Greetings Everyone,
I was directed here by some really helpful people over at 419eater.com. I have spent the last 12 hours researching both sites and I must say, WOW! Before yesterday I had no idea how much information and support was available on your sites.

My father was and continues to be a victim of the 419 Nigeria scams. He is 74 years old and lives by himself. He is convinced that he has an inheritence coming to him from Nigeria and our government is blocking him from receiving it. Nothing my family or I say or do can change his mind.

He was on active duty in the Army stationed in Germany after WWII and had a brief relationship with a local woman. One of the 419 inheritance scams he received convenced him that it was this same girl he dated in Germany and that she was now dieing of cancer in Russia and he was going to receive millions. Today he is still e-mailing and calling these scammers trying to get his "Inheritance" through all the red tape.

I have found enough ammunition on your site to take to my father and try to convince him again. I was amaized at how common my story is. If anyone has any good advice please let me know.

Once again, GREAT SITE! Thank you all for what you are doing!

Hi Aurora,
welcome to Scamwarners,

Fisrstly, I am sorry to hear that your father has been a victim of yet another scam and I am glad that our information has been useful to you.

WIthout knowing any specifics, it is hard to point to proof for you but generally, use google and search on every little (or big) detail, phone numbers and email addresses but also sections of script, if you have read some of the other posts you would have seen how google can find all kinds of things.

If you would like to post any details you have I can do some searching for you.

The other thing we can do is if you get us an email address we can contact the scammer pretending to be their next victim and post the emails for you dad to see that his fortune is not a one off miracle but simply one of many scams.

Other laternatives include;
Ask the local police to have a talk with him, you may need to drag your dad down complete with copies of the emails
Direct him here and and encourage him to ask for himself, we can then show him all kinds of relevant info to prove the scam to him
We can also offer to contact him ourselves, there are many members here who regularly contact scam victims and while nobody who has been doing this for any length of time has a 100% sucess rate, we can often get through to them.

I wish you well in convincing him, if you need any help or further advice please ask

Hi Aurora, I'm glad to see you made it over here. If you are looking for any information specific to the scammer who is targeting your father, please do share the name and email address he is using and we will help with research. We can't always find something, but often we can find copies of his scripts, etc. posted on anti fraud sites.

Posting the scammer's information here also helps lead others to this site if they search the name/email address. This can save others from becoming victims. Please do edit out any of your father's personal information should you decide to post emails.

I am so sorry to hear what is happening with your father. Please let us know if you would like help with getting your father to understand the scam. We have experienced warners who can email or call him for you.

Good Luck.
