I'm new here. After my sister was scammed out of $200 I decided to look into this scamming. I cannot believe how thick the Nigerians are!
Anyway...just wanted to say hello.

Hello & welcome, Skeeter :D

Sadly, they are not all thick - some are extremely inventive & convincing in their scams. The one's who make first contact seem to be 'sharp as hammers', but once the victim is 'hooked' & passed further up the ladder, they become involved with some really devious types. :(

Recognising a scam at the beginning is the best way to avoid having to deal with the clever ones!

Hi Skeeter,

Welcome to Scamwarners

I noticed this morning you have been posting details of romance scammers over at 419eater, that is a great way of preventing people from being scammed, wherever possible include details of the scam which helps people to see that they are actually scammers.

Unfortunately scammers are not all dumb, think about it, armed with poor English skills, a slow internet cafe connection and some pre-written scripts, they are able to convince many people to send them money from the other side of the world, it doesn't sound quite so dumb when you look at it like that does it.

Of course some scammers are smarter than others, I see some scam formats that really worry me because of how convincing they look even to a trained eye, and although poor grammar is charactoristic of your average African scammer, some of them have almost perfect writing.

All the same over the years I have seen scammers do some exceptionally dumb things but I suspect they are mostly learning the ropes and on their way to be better scammers :(
