Learn about us and introduce yourself

No, this isn't spam. Just wanted to introduce myself and my new project.

I'm an occasional scambaiter, but I just got fed up with the never ending flood...it didn't seem like I was making much of an impact. What I've realized lately is the primary target groups for scam have never heard of scamwarners, have no idea where to turn if something weird crops up.

So, I've opened a facebook page to openly redistribute information and openly bait, I'd love for some good people to join my page, as victim support or to field questions "is this real." Do not use baiter screen names! My page is openly anti-scam.

I've found people already in the first few days who are completely shocked to learn that love letter wasn't directed at them personally, it was one of thousands sent out...there is a loneliness to it, an embarrassment to being fooled...I hope my FB project can help.

If you have openly anti-scam FB pages, or would like to join my FB page, please PM me. Meanwhile, I will continue to post links to scamwarners, 419eater, and post short articles about protecting yourself online. (I'm not teaching baiting! I send the interested to 419eater, but everyone loves to see a little revenge  )

Hiya. Can you please link me to your facebook site. I have been a victim of a scammer and she is in facebook.

My story is in the Romance scam section of this website " Ruth Godinez. Aliases Ruth Loresco or Axel"

Hello helllo!

I would be surprised if it is the scammers real life FB page. Most would not link their FB page with an email address they are using for scamming. Not saying it's impossible but highly unlikely.

If you want to post it or PM it to me we would be glad to check it out!

Justin

What scammers often do is add an email address to profile, and this may or not be the one they use to create the profile. They often use emails that have been busted and published, which makes http://www.romancescam.com/results.php very useful for quick answers.
The real problem with FB is what to do with them once found. It is almost impossible to report them plainly as a scammer and almost as such to tell others and warn. On somewhere like Tagged you can plaster them with warnings and comments and it's easy to get scammers reported and possibly removed.
Many sites are equally as infected, and I use Mydailyflog for address hunting and it isn't alone in being bad.
The everlasting argument is what do you do with busted profiles? We know they make new ones easily or waken sleepers, but I feel that scammers on sites are never inactive and soon arrive and publicise themselves again. They aren't even very original either, using the same photos and texts, profile names, over and over again.
If we are good at busting ( and my/our Scampolice Group is ) we can give them a run for their money and make life harder.
Making anti scam info available is always good, however I think we need mass information and data collection. We have monitored info here which can be limiting, and we have other sites where it is not, so you too could be added as a scammer. PERSONALLY, I and associates are very careful to produce bulk data that is accurate, but sparse in detail. If a victim finds our data they will see the warnings and it must be up to them to decide on what to do as a result.. We could discuss this forever. Never get a bunch of scambusters together in one room!!!!!!!!!!!!
