IMPORTANT: SCAMMER CONTACTING MEMBERS VIA PM

On Friday, September 2nd, a scammer from Ghana signed up under membername lindasexy. This scammer did not post in the forums, but instead sent the following PM to some members who had posted in the romance scams forum.

I was scammed and after i make a resport and i got all my scammed money back, so i am advicing you to contact the INTERPOL POLICE AT , [email protected] , to have your money back.

This message is another scam. The email address does not belong to interpol--it belongs to a scammer, who thinks that he is clever by trying to scam people who have already been victims.

After the member was banned, he signed up again from another IP, under the username meetlora. The scammer sent out similar PM's. That username has also been banned.

Please note that BOTH LINDASEXY29 AND MEETLORA ARE SCAMMERS. IF YOU RECEIVED A PM FROM EITHER MEMBER, JUST IGNORE IT. THE INTERPOL ADDRESS IS FAKE, AND NO MONEY WAS OR WILL BE RETURNED BY INTERPOL. THIS IS A RECOVERY SCAM-AN ATTEMPT TO STEAL MORE MONEY FROM A VICTIM WHO HAS PAID BY PROMISING THEIR MONEY CAN BE RECOVERED.

Thanks Dotti. I received that Interpol scam PM message from lindasexy29. Because of the garbled English and phony Interpol address I concluded that it was sent by a scammer. You have confirmed my suspicion. ATTENTION ALL USERS. This is why it is SO IMPORTANT NEVER to let a scammer know about this website. Once a scammer has knowledge of this website it will go viral with other scammers and they then get to learn all the counter-tricks thus enabling the bastards to become more sophisticated. They will also be able to pinpoint who is reporting on them. It's like having a spy in the organization. It is comforting to know that the staff & moderators are vigilant and have banned these scammer moles. Keep at it!

It is also important to remember, if you get a suspicious PM from any user let an Administrator or a Moderator know. Rarely we have people like those named by Dotti use the PM system here to perpetrate a scam.

When we are made aware of such activities, we are quick to respond to keep the site safe, accurate and fee of scammers and spammers.

I am sure that the regular advisors and posters here will very quickly highlight any problems in the absence of Mods and Admins, as far as we can see them. We are bound to get included in the mailings the same as our victims are and it won't get past us either.

It's unavoidable, I'm afraid. Some scammers do google on their email addresses, and post here to proclaim their innocence. I expect "lindasexy29" found one of her fake IDs reported here.
Scammers work as individuals or in small groups. There is no scammer community for something to go viral. There' no honour among thieves, and they have no interest in helping other scammers.

I received another one from peace66love around 2:00am, however, he/she is very savy about this system - knew how to retract the message and I was not able to view it. Lindsey777

The scammer didn't retract his message.

As an administrator, while I can't actually read the messages, I have the ability to empty a member's outbox of sent messages. When I realized today that members were still getting messages from this scammer, I went ahead and emptied the scammer's outbox.
