[email protected] claims he is from Brazil, has lived in Alaska and now is working in the UK. Can't get home unless someone sends him money. Uses having a son as leverage.

welcome to Scamwarners. That's certainly typical of a scam, but can you quote the email in full please. Without your email address, etc, of course.

Greetings sthorpe. Could you also include the email header in your next post. It's easy to edit out your name and your email address before publishing. It's best to do that for safety reasons.

Am writing to make a report of a scammer he tells me his name is John Ramos, he is in the military stationed in Kabul Afghanistan and we have been chatting he uses the yahoo id: [email protected] and he has sent me photos of himself, sitting in a car, another of him standing on a frozen lake, and another photo. He told me that he lost his wife 5 yrs ago and that he is looking for someone to have a relationship with and he tells me he loves me. I started to be suspicious of him when I asked him what is his son's name, he did not tell me, he said never mind, and then he told me that his internet connection was going to expire at the end of the month and that he had to pay for it monthly, he asked me to pay for it $400 US Dollars. I told him that I could not afford to pay for his internet connection. He had asked me to check this website: http://www.home.vaffairs.us and to contact them via email at [email protected] to ask for him a leave request. It did not make any sense to me that I would have to make a request for him to have leave from the Military. But after a period of time I decided to email the contact just to see what kind of response if any I would get back. When I emailed the leave redeployment I only asked for a leave request for Capt John Ramos, this is the response that I got back

This is one of the photos that he sent to me. It sickens me to think that people would impersonate someone in the military and play people for a fool. I am thankful that my intuition told me that something was fishy about this. I don't know if this person pictured above is a person who is in the military or who he might be. Before I deleted him from my contacts he kept insisting that his name is Capt John Ramos of the US Army.

BEWARE, he also uses date stamp software to date stamp his photos so he can continue to con you into thinking that he is sending "real" time photos of himself.
