Hi to all.
I feel like the biggest fool in the world right now. I am almost 100 percent positive that I have been taken into this Irisman's hands. I don't know where I should post this or where I should go from here to stop this guy. I have already sent money once. And he is trying to get me again. I really wanted to believe him. I was falling for this guy big time. Where should I go from here? Will I ever get my money back? I want to report him but I am lost. Please someone help me. Becca

I got the same exact letter only using the soldiers name as "JEREMY MCPHAIL". Only I wasn't so lucky. I sent the money via Western Union to the "FINANCIAL REPRESENTATIVE" , Daniel Reuben in London. All the info I received was exactly like yours. Where do I go from here?

Hi,
I feel like a fool for letting someone get me like this. Here is the letter I got:

ATTN!!!!!!

My name is Gen. Raymond T.Odierno of the US Army. I have been put in-charge of the Transit process of Officer ''Jeremy McPhail'' by the Transit Department of the U.S. Army. I promise to guild you through the process to the best of my ability.
You can now proceed with the transit application of your Soldier man, Officer "Jeremy McPhail".
You should also be aware that, during this transit process, you are going to remit some amount of money to our finance department. This will be returned to you as soon as your Soldier man's safe exit from the war zone is confirmed. You are advised to fill and get back to me with the attached money back guarantee form via email only.
Once you provide us with this information you are no longer anonymous to us. (We) protect your privacy and we do not insist that you provide extra personal information than necessary.
All information collected will not be used for any illegal activity. The information is what we are going to use to register your name with the Military Transit Department. Get back to me as soon as possible.

Regards,

Hi Becca1957! Dont feel too bad there are thousands of people who fall for these scams. Scammers can be very persuasive. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about losing your money. I know thats not what you want to hear but the police can do nothing. The most important thing now is to drop all contact with this criminal. Dont try any retribution emails or anything. Drop all contact immediately! If you want a little revenge go to http://www.419eater.com but dont EVER contact this particular scammer again even from a fake email. Take care! Andy Hood

I'm sorry to hear your story becca1957. From what I can see, this scammer has been around since Sept of 2010.
If you have sent funds with WU / moneygram, there is no chance of recovery I'm afraid! I know it's too late but you may like to read viewtopic.php?f=13&t=12191 which has interesting reading.
Scammers often tell victims that wiring money is best because it's safe and quicker. Whilst that's partly true, people are left high and dry when things go pear shaped because there is no traceability. Don't beat yourself up too much because scammers are good at what they do. And it is not against the law to have warm feelings for another. It is unfortunate the other individual turned out to be fraudulant!

Thank you Becca, this will help some other people.

Thank you for your help. What I can't understand is why the names of the people involved, like General Obierno, who is a real person, let this go on. I checked this stuff out before I sent that money and...well all I can say is they are very good at what they do. You would think the military would do something. And the poor souls whose pics they are using...Do you know of this website? http://www.army.mil/article/36242/cid-w ... nce-scams/. I am just sick over this. Anything I can do help, free only!!!, please let me know. Thanks again.

This jerk doesn't give up. ?He has called my cell twice, and popped in on my yahoo messenger even though he is not on my list. He found me on facebook also..PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL...

Just block, ignore, and hang up. If you talk to him at all, even to tell him what a scum he is, he will take that as a sign that he can still get to you, and he will keep trying. When he gets absolutely no response, he will eventually give up.
