I posted my X-Box 360 on Craigslist:

"Selling brand new, factory sealed X-Box 360 Slim 4GB Console with Kinect for $280.
You get:
Xbox 360 4GB S Console
Kinect Sensor for Xbox 360
Kinect Adventures game - rated "E" for Everyone
Xbox 360 Black Wireless Controller
Xbox 360 Composite A/V cable (standard definition)
Built-in Wi-Fi
1 year limited warranty on console
I can give you a copy of the receipt for warranty purposes.
Please e-mail or call (xxx) xxx-xxxx if interested."

I get this response via text from (323) 835-1637:
"Hi, is your xbox 360 4gb console with kinect-$280 (xxxxx,ca) still up for sale? what is your final price"

My response:
"Yes. $260"

(323) 835-1637 response:
"Hi, I am a home a Home Realtor manager residing in America. I will like to buy your item for my pastors son who is on a missionary course in west africa, so i will be adding an extra $200 to cover the cost of shipment to him. And I would be able to pay you through paypal or bank transfer, so you can send me your paypal money request to [email protected] or send me your bank details so I can make a transfer"

I just ignored this person thinking it was total scam. This person's last text spanned 3 separate texts. Just thought I should share so others can watch out for this. Really? West Africa?

Welcome to Scamwarners. As you suspect it's a scam, although I'm not sure if he actually wants what you are selling, or wants you to send some of the "payment" by Western Union to an imaginary shipper. West Africa is probably the only true bit.

Hello faxedexcel!

You are 100% correct. This is a pretty common scam on craigslist. If you would have proceeded you would have gotten some fake emails from paypal. They would have told you the transfer has been made but you either need to provide the tracking number for your item or send the "shipper" the $200 via Western Union. In truth the paypal payment was never sent as paypal does not offer escrow services all transactions are instant.

His side story about the pastors son makes me believe he actualy wanted you item shipped and the lie explains why it would go to West Africa where the scammer actually is.
