Hello agenty01 and welcome to scamwarners.

Thank you for posting the scammers information. I take it from your post you lost money I'm sorry to hear that. The person the scammer is asking money to be sent to in Winsconsen is more than likely not knowingly participating in the scam. They are often victims of a work from home or romance scam. I hope it will make you feel a little better knowing that the information you posted will help others avoid this scammer.

This is almost exactly how this person responded to our query.
The property they listed for rent on craigslist is in Santa Cruz and is on sale as well. They listed it for $150 per night all inclusive.
We kept asking their contact number but the person kept avoiding. And then I came across this blog.

Good to know this, before we were caught in the trap. Thanks for the information. I am sorry if you lost your money.
I filled out the form and emailed to them though. Hope that doesn't get me into any kind of trouble.
I had my address and email address in the form.

Welcome to Scamwarners. It's unlikely that filling in the form will cause you any problems. He only wants your money, and the form was only to make him look like a genuine renter.

Thomas Nelson and Jennifer Davis got me for 575.00 for a New Orleans Rental. I have contact the local police here in Texas and when I get to NOLA I will be at their police Department also. I have a number listed to a Anna Mott 504-298-1558 and a rental agreement and an ID. and they had me pull my paypal back and send it Western Union I guess I am dumb to trust people. I now need to find a place to stay in NOLA. Wish I had found this site first before i lost my funds.

Hi auburne!

I'm sorry to here you were scammed. The scammers want you to pay with Western Union because it is completely untracable. They use all fake details. Don't feel dumb I know it was a hard lesson to learn but you will be better prepared now.

I just had this same thing happen to me from a [email protected] to send money to
Thomas Nelson.
1699 Montreal Ave, Saint Paul MN 55116

Something felt wrong, when the timestamp seemed to be in a different timezone and English wasn't great. I googled the property and it seemed too good to be true, it said 30 day minimum but was allowing me to rent it for 2 days? The ad was on Craigslist but I googled the address of the property and it said online it was booked for the days I want.

When I requested the agreement there was an error in one of the places in regards to the amount per night and then asked me to wire the money. I googled the name and address and nothing is matching up. Also, the [email protected] wasn't giving me any results either.

Anyway, it became clear it was a scam when they asked for the money to be Western Union'd.

Wish this person could go to jail. Stealing people's money and getting their hopes up :(

^^^ Thanks for posting up the email address that the scammer used, this will help others avoid being scammed.

It might be a good idea for you to PM one of the admins (Jillian or Dotti) and ask them to change your username, as using your email is likely to attract spam/scam mails.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Thanks AlanJones - I have msgd Jillian. I'm not sure how my username became my email address, I must have accidentally typed it in too fast or selected it from the form saved data in my browser.

I just got another suspicious email from a craigslist post I contacted. Different email address, but also looks too good to be true. I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks I'll post it there. I'm 99% sure it's a scammer. I asked what the booking process was and then they never emailed me back. The email is [email protected] - gmail address for "condo rentals" yet it's supposed to be their own condo?
I'm so glad I found this forum! :D

Wished I had taken my time and did more research, the scam is the same but with a didn't email and different address to send the money. [email protected] and the address is Tom Nelson at 2216 Bayard Ave, Saint Paul MN. Has anyone called the Saint Paul police?
by Bubbles Fri Aug 03, 2012 12:31 am
Welcome to ScamWarners clubber. I am sorry to hear you got taken by this scammer. In most cases, there is nothing the police can do. The scammer lives in a different country and to get international cooperation is really difficult when the focus is on terrorist activity. Scammers know this and that is why they operate the way they do.

It does not hurt to make the scam known as the police may put the word out through the media that scammers are working this way and others may be saved. I just don't want you to get your hopes up that there will be an arrest and your money will be returned.
