Fake banks, couriers, law firms, escrow and other fake sites used in scams.

Hi everyone, I dont know where to start !!

I am Martin O'Sullivan of the address above, someone is using my business details to comit fraud.

This morning two guys arrived at my door saying that they have come to view a JCB, I was totally confused as I wasnt expecting anybody. After inviting them in it became apperent that they were in the middle of a scam involving my name and address. These guys had just travelled from Norway to my home in Essex/London to see the machine in person. They told me about the machine they were buying and had some contact phone numbers, when I rang the mobile it was an international ring tone and the london landline was unanswered.

I googled my full name and was shocked to see pages and pages of warnings about me and my business (or not as the case is)

I do sell small plant and tools but not large excavators or the like. I mainly sell Hydraulic breakers that attach to diggers, currently I do not have a website as I sell on ebay but I was shocked to see moplant.com with my details. I can assure you this is not me !!

I have just come back from the police station but they told me that as I have not lost anything I cannot report it as a crime so they dont want to know, I will need to seek further advice as I am not happy with that response.

For anyone wishing to contact me you can get me on 07772 081 052, this is my personal and business phone number, I do not use any other number so beware of any other numbers you may be given, if I dont answer when you call try again or leave a message and I will call you back.

If you have been a victim of these scammers and they have taken your money please could you give me the number of what police station you have reported it to so I can call them to clear my name and help with any questions.

I am posting this message everywhere I can so everyone can see it in the hope no one else will get scammed, sorry if you are getting annoyed with seeing it on the forum

Thankyou for the story vaclav66. Will you please hold the bus and do not commit to any purchase on mentioned tractor. This company is looking very shaky. The domain name of plant-equipment-sales.com has a registrant Contact of Whois Privacy Protection Service and is out of fujian in China. That means the registrant is hiding their identity and also the Fujian area is like the scam capital of china. The site was created on the 21 March 2013 and has an expiry of 21 March 2014. That site is only registered for the bare 12 month minimum which is so often a ploy used by scammers. Then this came across my desk and said, We could not find sufficient information about the domain you requested. This sometimes happens with very small or new websites. Please try to look it up again later. I certainly would not go anywhere near it. I think you would be doing yourself a huge favour by purchasing equipment from your local dealer and refrain from online purchases.

The people involved aren't Nigerian I can be certain of that from what I know so far and it wouldn't be sensible to give you a sniff of what's known, as much as I'd like to.

Anything else you can add ?

I've taken a copy of the webpage with one of the much travelled machines on your site.

I'll post them up for greater clarity later.

This being interesting. Domain name: nijlandservice.nl Status: active
Registrar: Pagelink B.V. HENGELO OV Netherlands.
Apparently this being the phone number. tel: 0547 - 291 291

Nijlandservice.nl is linked to public IP address 212.204.200.171
nijlandservice.nl is valuated at $0 USD because it could be making around $0 USD per day. It's estimated that this domain receives about 0 hits each day. I find that odd considering the company has had 25 records that have been archived since Nov 2008.
by TerranceBoyce Thu May 30, 2013 12:49 pm
It's a real can of worms, but I have the time to research it, and that's what I'll do.

Thanks for the heads up jolly_roger, because I hadn't noticed it.

In dealing with this, it's a case of trust no one and don't believe anything unless it's been independently confirmed.

Back to work.

Two rules will guide me - 'follow the money' and 'the price doesn't lie'.

I know the nationalities involved and none of them are Nigerian. Usually their work is of a higher standard.

Welcome to Scamwarners Carbon and I understand your anger and frustration but threats of violence won't help, and it's only by people like you providing information that those responsible can be identified and be brought to face criminal prosecution.

Unfortunately a lot of victims have contacted us and not given us the information that will help.

I'm prepared to do the research and compile the information, and when I have enough I'll put pressure on the authorities to act, but I need compelling evidence, and the more information I have, the more compelling it is.

It's clear that the criminals are worried as I'm getting contacts trying to feed me with misleading information, but the more information I have, the more easily I can discard information that is designed to mislead me.

These scammers aren't Nigerian, and their nationality won't affect what I do with the information.

I do not want to disclose what I know as it will help the fraudsters, but nothing will help me more than details of the accounts being used.

I connot belive how much of this is going on, I have been depressed all day thinking about these bastards using my name and address.

From me posting my number in my intro above a lady called me today from Poland to tell me they sent £10000 to these guys perporting to be me.

Unfortunatly I am having major problems with my phone today on the EE network so I need to call this woman back when my signal improoves to see if she has reported this and to get her to put the bank details on here for you guys to investigate.

If the lady who called me today is reading this please write a message here as I have not yet recieved your cousins number by text due to my phone problem.

Hi all,

The website http://plant-equipment-sales.com/index. ... =8&pid=102 is a fraud site however constplant ltd is a genuine company and has been a victim of these scammers too, I tracked down this company today and spoke to the owner on the phone for a long time, his company name has been used for over a year by the scammers, they keep changing the website name slightly but his company name and address remains. He has had many people from all over Europe coming to his premises demanding their money back which im sure will soon start happening to me, it is a worry as the address these scammers have used is my home address.

I belive these scammers have got my details from the HMRC website as that is the only place I am registered with my middle name Paul.

The owner of Constplant has tried to get the bank accounts closed with barclays but they are doing nothing, I have sent him details of this website for him to view all the content so he may respond personally.
by TerranceBoyce Fri May 31, 2013 2:34 pm
One problem, martin o'sullivan, appears to be that companies advertise machinery for sale they don't own, and don't hold on their premises. In fact some of them are non-trading companies, so they couldn't sell them if they wanted to, and the most innocent interpretation I can put on their actions, is that they're operating as agents, whether officially or unofficially, but they don't state this on their website.

At best this is 'sharp' practice' but it appears to have opened up the opportunity for criminals to do the same thing, but without any intention of ever supplying any machine. To some extent I can tell from the prices being quoted which are the genuine and original ads, and which are the fakes.

Though the victims appear to be largely based in Eastern Europe, the ultimate victim will be the legitimate UK machinery selling businesses who are going to be tainted by the activities of these criminals, even those not actually being impersonated.
