Frankly it appears that UK banks have lost control of the situation and I would be inclined to treat all UK bank accounts as untrustworthy. It's regrettable, but it's the inevitable result of UK banks being incapable of removing bank accounts involved in fraud from their books. I must own up that I find it quite extraordinary that it's allowed as it harms the banks and even the economy, but that's the inevitable consequence. It's simply too easy to use a UK bank account for fraud without any risk.
It'll harm honest UK traders too, but banks appear to be promoting fraudsters against the interests of honest traders. Unless and until their honest customers realise they're being put out of business through this nothing will happen.
The simple fact is that most 'money mule' offers are directed at the UK and that is the criminal opinion as to how lax the UK banking system is. Undoubtedly other factors are at play, but the UK has become a breeding ground for fraudulent activity and those behind it are much better organised than the systems failing to prevent it.
Effectively paying money in to a UK bank account, whether a personal or business account, is no more secure than making a payment by Western Union, and you only have to read the stories of victims who have contacted this forum to realise this.
Setting aside the effect this will have on people's confidence in the integrity of bank accounts in general it will then have an impact on trading on all ad sites if the most assured medium of payment is no longer trusted.
