BUY-HOT.COM IS A SCAM SITE BEWARE !!!!!

I was cheated by this site http://www.buy-hot.com . I paid nearly £350 for HD camcorder thinking its cheap but i'v been cheated. Person name Sara was chating with me thru buy-hot website.she said she'll send me the tracking number but she dint send any till now its almost 4 weeks...... she comes to chat but when i ask for tracking number she keeps quite. She gave me two different bank details for me to transfer the money.Bank details are as follows,

Johnleander, You should run a full virus scan, since you have been on the buy-hot site. There are reports of sites from this IP spreading viruses.

Also be aware that scammers often see past victims as being more likely to send money to a different scam so please be extra careful with any emails you receive.

If you have given any of your personal details and in particular your bank details, please contact your bank, advise them of the situation and have the account number changed, it is a small amount of inconvenience but well worth the effort for the peace of mind

^^ You are welcome!! If you were on that site, please make sure you run a virus scan. There were some reports that it was spreading a virus/trojan a while ago.

@ JohnLeander: How are they asking for payment? You may be able to claim the money back depending on how you paid and what country you live in.

Thanks for pointing out the new details, but be careful on that site. You should definitely run an AV scan.

EDIT: have those bank accounts been reported?

Newdonym, I reported them to alan a few weeks ago.

I had to run Malwarebytes cos of viruses whitch came from those sides,so watch out...

Wish I would have known about scamwarners last thursday... I sent $450 to Buy-Hot.com via western union for a Sony PC. Sara was the person I worked with online. The email I used for "her" was [email protected] Is there any way to retrieve any of the money? Besides running virus checks - is there anything else I should do???

Unfortunately there is no way to get your money back, once picked up from Western Union it is gone forever.

The best advice i can give you now is to be on the look out for more scams, scammers are persistent buggers and will continue to try different methods to try and get you to send more money, this could come in the form of a completely new scam or it could be a recovery scam, delete and forget is normally the best thing to do
