Another lottery scam. Thanks for posting it. :D

by Chris Martins Thu Jan 31, 2008 11:14 am
What many victims of lottery scams don't seem to realize is that legitimate lotteries exist to raise money. Usually, they take in money by selling tickets, and they can only be successful if they pay out less than they take in.

In short, you can't win if you haven't entered. If receive an email telling you that you have won a lottery you did not enter, you can be sure it is a scam.

Scammers claim to be associated with government agencies, corporations, and legitimate lotteries to give their scam emails credibility. When people respond, they are told they will need to pay fees to release the money, cover taxes, courier charges etc. The requests for fees will never end, and winnings will never be collected because they don't exist.

Of course, I haven't won anything. Like Chris said, you have to play or enter a lottery to win. And a google search shows a LOT of people seem to have won: Clicky

Of interest in this scam email is that it is being sent from a US university email addy. This is becoming more and more popular with the scammers. It is either a hijacked or spoofed email account from a student or employee of the university. They have been notified.

You haven't won. Don't give out your personal information. Just delete and ignore.

Hi Thomas:

So I choose option C - $130 USD.
Maybe its best that I right a cheque to the courier delivery express who will be delivering the prize
to the best of my interest, and protection of my accounts. I hope that it will be possible
there are alot of frauds nowadays. And also if possible the courier should have a reputable name
who has been in the business for so long and can be trusted like UPS, fedex etc.

Subject: Now choose a claims Option for receiving your won US$4,600,000.00

To:

Thanks for your mail and the claims information which made verifications stress free for me

Now choose a claims Option for re ceiving your won US$4,600,000.00

With OPTION A, B and C you will be receiving the US$4,600,000.00 in form of a certified cashier? cheque. Here you will have to make the courier express delivery payment and provide your address where the US$4,600,000.00 cheque will be delivered to. The only difference between OPTION A, B and C is the courier express delivery charges and the cheque arrival time to your address. The cheque can be deposited in any Bank and country of your choice and it takes 4 working days to clear and the complete US$4,600,000.00 will be available in your Bank account.

Be rest assured and guaranteed that your winnings cheque of US$4,600,000.00 will be delivered to your designated address upon the receipt of the payment for the courier express delivery charges of your choice.

Delivery charge for Option (A) is US$200 and cheque arrival time is 24Hrs after the payment is made and received.

Delivery charge for Option (B) is US$160 and cheque arrival time is 48Hrs after the payment is made and received.

< /div>

Delivery charge for Option (C) is US$130 and cheque arrival time is 72Hrs after the payment is made and received.

Note that mail or post cannot be used for OPTION A, B and C. The reason why you are expected to choose a claims option and make payment for it is because the UK Lottery Organization did not cover the claims expenses of all first category winners of US$4,600,000.00 and also we do not execute winner payment without firstly receiving the claims option payment.

DO TAKE GOOD NOTE THAT DEDUCTION FROM THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF US$4.6M WAS MADE COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE BY THE UK LOTTERY ORGANIZATION TO AVOID MISAPPROPRIATION OF WINNERS FUND IN SUCH A WAY THAT NOT EVEN US$1 CAN BE DEDUCTED FROM ANY WINNERS CHEQUE UNTIL IT GETS TO YOU. WITH THIS NO PAYMENT FOR ANY OPTION THAT YOU CHOOSE CAN BE DEDUCTED FROM THE US$4,600,000.00, I HAVE JUST TOLD WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND ALSO NOTE THAT A BANK TRANSFER WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE.

Now I will await your response and know the option which you are more comfortable with and also let me know when you will be making payment for it so as to enabl e me inform you on how to do so.

Yours Faithfully
Mr. Thomas Hua

Hi mlot711 and welcome to ScamWarners!

This is most certainly a scam and you should stop all contact with this scammer and just delete any further emails from him. Do not send him any money; do not give him any of your contact details.

There is no lottery; you unfortunately haven't won anything. As you can see, all he wants is your money, not to give you money.

A google search of Lucky Number:MX014926583 & Ticket Number: APP236566301307 shows this: Clicky Seems like a LOT of people won.

And a google search of his email addy reveals he has used a couple other ones too: Clicky

Thank you so much for posting this information. Others will now be warned and hopefully won't send him any money. :D

ETA: I see you have now posted and you indicate you have given him your contact details. Just don't answer the phone when he calls and eventually he will stop calling. Ignore him from now on. Please continue to read more about the online scams here on our forum and make sure to educate others.

Yet another UK Lottery scam. The criminals have recycled their UK redirect telephone number +447035994712 a few times as a simple google search will demonstrate. The ticket number 034-22478556 has also been utilised in many many other lottery scams. This is often an indication that the scam script has been copied and reproduced over and over again.
