Posted to give some adverse publicity to a clear SCAM

What's wrong with it ?

1 There are only two legal Lotteries operating in the UK and this isn't either of them. It isn't even an illegal one - it's non-existent.

2 It's come from a free yahoo mail account used by schoolkids, my grandmom and people who don't want to spend a cent on costs - not used by corporations offering to pay millions in prize money. A domain would cost just a couple of hundred dollars.

3 If you didn't buy a ticket where does this fabulous prize money come from ? They'll want fees eventually, but you can't give away £1.500,000 and collect £x,000 and run a lottery that works . It works because they don't pay anything out. The National Lottery doesn't give money to another Lottery to give away - that would be stupid.

4 Why do they ask you to identify yourself ? They sent notification to your e-mail address and that is supposed to be what won the prize, not the individual attached to it. They can't check the information you supply - so unless you write Bozo the Clown you can put anything - and what's the relevance of your sex and marital status ? - but it sounds official though, doesn't it ?

5 On first glance the grammar and spelling look okay. Look more carefully and you'll see that the effort is quite poor. I won't point them out, but you can clearly see that whoever drew this up is not a natural or well educated English speaker.

It is operated by a scammer who will never pay you a penny.

I am seeing more actual victims from this particular Lottery scam - especially in India and couldn't figure out why. If you do a Google search it becomes much clearer. There are many 'hits' of a fund by that name but it isn't actually a Lottery, merely the body distrbuting grants from the National Lottery in the UK. Any warnings get hidden under the pile of valid references to that organisation and the confusion over who thay are and what they do is easy for a scammer to exploit.

There is a warning on the HLF site

http://www.hlf.org.uk/English/AboutUs/O ... WeWork.htm

but it isn't very prominent or clear.
