You can't win a lottery you haven't entered! Please read here for information on lottery scams.

A fairly standard lottery scam. Neither Coca Cola nor FIFA have any connection to this fraud. The scammer has included a FIFA link in a poor attempt to give the impression that this fake lottery has the backing of FIFA. Anyone trying to claim the prize money would soon be facing demands for the payment of fees from a phony legal representative.

Here is a similar scam email from WORLD CUP 2010 FREE LOTERY PROMO

The interesting thing to note about this one is the fact the scammer must have combined two scam email formats. If you read it carefully, you will see not only is the scammer trying to tell me I won a lottery (but couldn't even spell that correctly) but also is place an order for something I don't have and am not selling.

Looks to me like Dora's not to clever scammer keeps his format in a text file and forgot to just copy the bit relating to his lotery (sic) scam, instead he copied both his formats.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
by Dora Mon Aug 03, 2009 10:21 am
Scammers aren't always the brightest, are they, Alan? We can only hope he is wondering why his format isn't working. Unfortunately, I am sure many might still think this is legit and if they ask the scammer about it, he will have a 'story' to explain it all.

They will always have a 'story'. Just don't believe them! And DON'T SEND THEM ANY MONEY! You never have to pay for something you legitimately won.

:laugh-s: Funny thing is I have just got a similar email to this one, also the Coca Cola Fifa lotto scam but the draw was held tomorrow the 9th Jan 2010 and even more interestingly the results were published on the 30th Jan 2010. So theoretically I have won a $1M before the draw has even been held or the results published.

Plus the names in the letter differ drastically too. First is male and the second is female. Other wise it is just your regular scam. See Below

Hi cornishrexrules,

Welcome to Scamwarners

Thank you for posting about the email you received.

Scammers will often make mistakes like this, it is important when they do that teh mistakes are not pointed out to them, if the continue to make teh mistakes they will alert their victims all by them selves.

telling them will result in it being fixed and therefore much more likely they will scam somebody else

It looks like you know how to spot a scam but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask
by cornishrexrules Fri Jan 08, 2010 12:50 pm
Hi Ralph,

:=) Thank you for those kind words. I should be able to recognise them by now as at work we receive dozens of them per month. We have managed to block a lot of the addresses but they just use a new one each time. But yes I do agree with you that alerting them to their mistakes is in itself a mistake. And the sad thing is that they do catch people out with it and in a way it serves the victims right as it is greed that makes them respond that way.

Sad but true.

Cheers

That's not a view we hold. Nobody deserves to be scammed, even the greedy. And I don't accept that victims of a lottery scam are motivated by greed. Certainly victims of romance and Craigslist, to name but two, weren't greedy.
