to me
Complement of the season from my wife Gillian and i Adrian to you, this is to acknowledge your message to us today and see the link below: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-19254228

My wife and I have decided to donate the sum of $2,000,000.00 USD to you as part of our charity project to improve the lot of 3 lucky individuals all over the world from our 148m-Euromillions Jackpot Lottery winning fund. We prayed and searched over the internet for assistance because i saw your profile on gmail email owners list and picked you. Gillian my wife have decided to make sure this is put on the internet for the world to see. As you could see from the webpage above. We have helped about 40 peoples around, and we decided to donate to 3 lucky individuals worldwide from our winning Funds.
To facilitate the disbursement process of the funds $2,000,000.00 USD which have been donated solely to you.

Ensure you are the rightful owner of the selected email address and contact us with your NAME/COUNTRY/AGE/ and a valid identification of your self (i.e driver's license or any working Identification) so that we can forward you payment information immediately. we are hoping that you will be able to use the money wisely and judiciously over there in your country. we will employ you to do what you can to alleviate the level of poverty in your region and also try to enhance the standard of living of as many people as you can because that is the only objective of donating this money to you in the first place.
We only want to feel good by helping people this time of the year, this is the only thing that makes my wife happy.
Thank you for accepting our offer, we are indeed grateful.
God bless you
Adrian and Gillian Bayford

My name is XXXXXXX XXXXX and I am XX. I live with my grandmother, XXXXXXXXX XXXXX in XXXXXXX in the United States of America. She is XX years old. We don't have much and are running low on cash. This would be such a blessing to us. Can you still send the money? She is very skeptical and would like proof that it is not a scam before I send anything. Can you do so please? Thank you.

A quick google search on their names and the email address leads to the site they linked to, and they did, in fact, win the said lottery. I am really confused, and they haven't asked for any information as in bank account or personal info besides name, age, and country of residence. Help?

hi and Welcome to SW... :D

This is 100% a Scam, of course they did win the lottery, but I can assure you that they would not be giving it away !!.

This is a scammer linking to the newspaper story of a genuine winner and trying to scam you out of money, I would just delete and ignore any further emails.

If you wish you can email me at

Thank you. Thats what I had figured, but just wanted to be sure. Seeing as things like this usually appear in my spam mail folder, and this one didn't, it made me suspicious.

To add a bit to Gateway's response:

The scammers have simply used the names of real lottery winners. This is not the first time they have done this--there are literally thousands of scams using Allen and Violet Large's names, and several others using the names of other lottery winners as well.

It is important to realize that the couple's statements about winning the lottery meant they would share with friends and family, NOT with random strangers.

Scam emails using the Bayfords' name have been going around since they won the lottery.

The scammers will not ask for anything right away, as they are waiting to see if you are hooked before they move to the money request.
