I just started talking to this guy. He said his name is Josh Cooper from Portland. He said he's in the military and is in Afghan. I wanted to see if he really is who said he is. I played along with his emails making sure I don't give him any personal info about that can help him to easily hack or scam me. He even sent me pictures of him and his daughter. I met him from E harmony and the pictured that he sent me was not the ones he posted at e harmony. He did say that his e harmony account got hacked into and that it's close already. How do I know he's not the hacker? I know that there are a lot of scammers around the world. It is sad that they take advantage of ladies and men who are just out there hoping to find the right person for them. We've only been emailing each other for 4 days now. They he said that it will be easier for us to communicate if I email this telesat communication company. He also stated that I have to pay a one time fee so that they can connect my phone to his sat radio then it will be free from then on. He also mentioned a request to leave so he can go see his family. He said that he does not have access to his money and I can't send him money. All of the things he said aligned with what all the scammers did that are posted here. I'm just glad that I found this site right away. Thanks you for helping people prevent to get scammed. hi Jane, welcome. Thanks for posting this scammer's email address. he is a scammer, not a soldier. Real soldiers have communications to back home free of charge provided by the Gov't. they also have access to the money they are paid every month on payday. If he is a soldier and can not control his money, his CO and platoon mates would make sure that he did not have that problem very long. It is not good for any military operation to have people in the street begging for anything. That would not be tolerated by a CO ( Commanding Officer) or his platoon mates. a real soldier wouldn't do it for more than a day or so before his a$$ was whooped so bad he'd never do it again.

can you post the actual text body of his emails to you (removing any of your personal information first) so that the scam script can be searched for by anyone else looking?

I started speaking to Ssgt Josh Cooper from Tillamook, OR on Thursday evening. His e-mail address he gave me was: [email protected] (a little different than yours). His story to me was that he was half cuban and was stationed in Afghanistan and is a sniper. He would send me LONG e-mails at least twice a day and was of course too good to be true. I e-mailed him and told him that his e-mails were overwhelming and that is when he suggested paying the fee of $365 to this telecom service in Houston, TX. The form had grammatical errors, misspelled words and to send the money via Western Union to this man in Houston. Instantly that was the HUGE RED flag. I asked my friends who have military spouses and they informed me how military spouses communicate (then can use prepaid cards, webcam, etc).

His e-mail he used was also not military. He sent me two pictures of him and his daughter (one was on eharmony the other one was not). However, it is very easy to take a picture on your phone of something online and then send it on as an attachment as if it is coming from him.

His story with me was that he was half Cuban - I tried e-mailing in Spanish and his replies all seemed like they came from google translate.

It is a shame because the "real Josh Cooper" may not even know that this is going on and he is a nice looking man with a beautiful little girl. I do not want to post his pictures on here but I will post a little bit of one of his e-mails. Full of information.... like I said a bit of an information overload. I admit I fell for it initially and likely shared more than I should have. We would e-mail twice a day and they were HUGE e-mails. Whoever is doing this is very skilled in telling you what you want to read.

To answer your question first i just want someone who is loving,caring, understanding and God fearing. I don't really care about the physical appearance of a woman what really matters most to me is the inner beauty. One ultimate thing I don't like in a relationship someone who is jealous and mean. To me is act of distrust of someone you're involve with. if you trust them, there won't be any reason to doubt. I think talking on phone would really help us.. Few protocols here.

Firstly : whatever we discuss must be confidential due to security reasons here some people are working with the terrorist here from the state and its really affecting us.

Secondly : I can't send money out while am on deploy here and no one can send money to me while am here.

Thirdly : I am using Radio phone here so if u want to hear my voice you'll need to contact the US military telecom service to get your cell phone connected with my Radio phone here.

Nice reading from you again Xxxx and thanks for answering my questions. If I am seriously drawn to someone, I don't care about traditional matching characteristics (like a certain age or financial status). I go for it! I want a woman that want to commit to a relationship that last forever. The best thing about loving and being hurt is that you get to know what true love really is. For as gold is tested in fire, and so will love be perfected in pain. we could most likely share a lot about life. It takes 2 to make a relationship work and both have to give and take of the other, have to forgive faults and focus on the parts that make you unique for that is what brings people together. Every bit of my word do always comes from the deepest bottom of my heart and it's all true. You might be thinking what my Daughter feel about me wanting to have a woman in my life. I have been talking to the women on one scene for a few weeks. She said she was in Iraq and I got an email once every few days. Nothing really serious like I love you or anything like that. I eventually got her to talk to me on yahoo. We never got to speak to long it was day there when it was night there. So we would miss each other. I checked that out as in what time it would be there when it was one time here and she did tell the right time so I thought that made it safer that she was not a scammer. I did send her some pics of myself and my family because I did trust her. Then all of a sudden she tells me two days ago that hackers was getting into there system and so we couldn't talk anymore unless I got a VPN. She gave me the email address and I gave them the information I thought they would need. I get an email back wanting personal information like my ID number and where I work and my phone number my full name her name and rank and so on. I didn't think about it since it was the military. Then I just got an email telling me that I could get a VPN from them for around an outragous amount. I didn't think that was right that is when I started snooping around and found out this tellsat was not real. And a real VPN company was either free or a very low price like 10 bucks which I could handle. This is the email I got about the price.
Plus they called me by the wrong name.
