Information on romance scams and scammers.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I met a man on an online dating site. He says he's 52 and a civil engineer/contractor in the United States. He says he grew up in Spain and moved to US at age 11 bc his father got a job in Kentucky.

Says he got his degree in US. Says his wife died in car crash five years ago. He has a 15 year old daughter and lives in a small town in Indiana - they moved from New Jersey several months ago so his daughter could be close to his mother.

Says his mom lives just a few blocks from him and his daughter. He was working for a company but over the past two weeks has been talking about his company getting a big contract and he finally found out last week he gets one of the contracts and had to relocate to Florida for 10 weeks.

He's using this job as an opportunity to start his own business. We had not set a specific time to meet in person (I live in a different state) but we had talked about meeting in July.

Because of this job, that will be delayed until August or September. Before he took the job, he asked what I thought bc he knew taking it would delay our meeting and he didn't want to choose his job over relationship.

He's never asked for money or even hinted he needs money. He has sent me flowers.

He did seem to get serious very fast. We have texted and talked on the phone. for 6 weeks. He gave me his email address but we've never exchanged emails. HIs is an Outlook email address with his full name in it.

I'm concerned bc he hasn't sent me any new pics in weeks and says his phone doesn't work right. I want to video chat with him but he says he doesn't know how. He says his laptop doesn't have webcam but I can't imagine any laptop from the past 10 years that doesn't have one.

He agreed to video and says he wants to but is just too stressed right now with the new job to take the time to learn. He promises he'll learn as soon as he gets settled and less overwhelmed with the new job.

I have run his pics through google image search but nothing comes back. He's nice looking but not model handsome.

I have tried to look him up on various background check sites but nothing comes up. He does have a very common name so lots of results come back but I don't think they're him.

I was able to verify his cell phone number is a registered number with Verizon. He talks with a very strong Spanish accent. He tells me quite bit of detail about the job.

Sometimes he seems so legit and I can't imagine the motivation to scam me. I don't have any money to give and if he were to ask me for money, I know that would be a HUGE red flag and would refuse and cut all ties with him.

I want him to be real but it concerns me he won't send new pics or video chat. He has sent some pretty cheesy romantic poems and I googled them and found them word for word on various sites. Is it possible I'm being paranoid?

I want to be careful but also don't want to push him away if he's real. His English on the phone is better than it is on text but he also uses lots of abbreviations and isn't the most accurate typer.

Would someone from Spain who's lived in the US for 30 years still have such a strong accent? I know there are red flags and I don't want to ignore them but don't have any hard evidence he isn't real either.

Any advice?

Please post his full details, name, email address, telephone number and the photos he has sent plus some of the actual messages he has sent to you (with your details removed).

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Is it safe to post that? If this is a real person, I don't want people contacting him or letting him know I'm investigating

What if the person is not a scammer?
Many of our visitors may be reluctant to post the details of the person who is asking them to send money for fear that it may be an innocent person. We too are very concerned about ensuring that no innocent people are listed here. If there is evidence to suggest that someone listed here may be innocent, we will either remove or clarify the thread as necessary. If the thread is removed, it will be posted publicly if we do find that the person is indeed a scammer.

I can't figure out how to post a picture. Michael Ramos. 856-310-4997. [email protected] (he said he accidentally misspelled his name in the email address).

"Hear this, my declaration of love, from me to you. I love you, my Angel, with all my heart and I will never stop loving you. You are my live, you are my everything. So, it pleases you, call me your lover from this day forth and you're mine. For your love am I and your best friend too. As our body, mind and soul combine, so do our hearts become one."

"My love for you continues to grow. I never thought I had the capacity to love anybody as much as I love you right now. Yet, my love for you continues to mature, growing beyond the realm of my heart. It seems that you have become the fiber of my should, the very reason for my existence."

I found the first one as a love poem someone wrote. I know the second one shows up in some common scales but didn't know if it's possible to just find it if you were searching for love letters to write someone.

It is 100% a scam. Romance scammers make sure their victim is fully bought in, sleep deprived, off their schedule and not eating at their regular time schedule. He will have you looking for messages all day and night.

It sounds like he is this scammer >> viewtopic.php?f=13&t=25968 Maybe with a new fake job.

Stop all contact with him. Do not tell him why. Just vanish.

You are absolutely correct. Michael Ramos is a scammer. He sent me a picture of his driver's license to prove he's not a scammer. He sent a fake driver's license from New Jersey. [Remove detail educating scammers - AJ]

Mod Note: Please read my reply below to you.

I too am a target of Michael Ramos!!

We have been texting each other for the last 6 weeks. He has never asked me for money or anything. I do have several pics of him and his daughter. Our conversations are similar to another lady posting on here. Just today I received 2 dozen roses and a card! I was about to thank him when my Niece called me to say this is a scam!

This website won't allow me to post his pics. Nor will it allow me to post them as a link or a file!! Is this even a real page to warn people?

He used a stolen credit card to purchase the roses and card. You will need to now contact the police and let them know.
