Thank you SO much for the opportunity to warn everyone about this scammer. He contacted me via match.com. I exchanged about five emails with him and was suspicious by the third email....knew definitely after that ....he is a scammer.

Claims to be from Fresno. Lost wife, son, and father. Been single ten years. Words for Maxindex INvestments International.

He never got my name or anything else.

I'm glad you caught on before you wasted too much time.

The best way to help others is to post as much information as possible about him, including his email address and the actual emails he sent you (just remove your name/personal info if it is in the emails--though often when you review them, you will find the scammer doesn't actually use your name anyway). Scammers like this use scripts--prewritten emails that they reuse dozens, sometimes hundreds of times often under multiple names--and having those scripts posted will often help another victim to recognize the scam, especially if the scammer changes names or email addresses.

Just adding to the comment of Dotti. If you look at the email header, it usually gives an indication of the originating source. Perhaps post a header too? I know they look boring but in many instances a lot of info can be gained.

Claimed to have a Master's Degree from UK but used i not I, broken sentence structure, and phrases that sound like they were googled.

I am angry that I spent the time to email him a few times. I cannot imagine how people must feel who lose their heart or money. Let's all post everything we know about these horrid people. Linda

I'm so pissed at myself. He contacted me as well from Match.com. I feel so stupid. He knows my name and has my phone number but we have not talked. He also gave me his phone number. I quit this game of finding that special someone.

Welcome to ScamWarners tomorrow_2. No need to be upset at yourself, scammers are "professional" deceivers. The scammer may contact you, but just ignore him or tell him you are not interested anymore. They only want to keep in touch with people who they think will send them money.

If you receive anything in the mail from him, just destroy it because it will be a forgery. They don't want to be your friend, they only want money from you.

Do not be angry with yourself. I am grateful he didn't get anything more from you. I reported him to match and yahoo. It would help others if you did the same. Just look on the match site and there is a place to report him.

Welcome to ScamWarners Lilly, I am glad to hear that information you found here was helpful to you. I am sorry you got scammed for a while. Hopefully you have stopped all communication with the scammer. Nothing good will come from staying in contact with him. Leave him wondering where you went.

There is no chance of him actually visiting your mother as he is nothing like the American businessman he claims to be. There will be some sudden emergency that will result in him asking her for money. Illness, traffic accident, or arrest at the airport for carrying a large amount of cash, for example.

Arnold - She does. Thank goodness the truth came to light before any real emotional or (any) financial damage was done. Still, my heart aches that my Mom had her hopes up about meeting a nice man and now is feeling bad because of this piece of crapola.

Dear Concerned Daughter: I am the one who began this thread about Michael Fingers. Tell your mother that the language in her letter is absolutely WORD FOR WORD in the emails he wrote me. How fortunate she is tohave such a savvy daughter who recognized the scam and acted to protect her mom.

I am SO grateful for this site. SO grateful to those who make it possible to warn others. Another lady didn't know this man was scamming her until she read about it here.

We must all do everything we can to protect ourselves from scum like this horrible person. Linda
