I am new here (all the way across the pacific ocean down under) almost got into one trouble! lucky was alert enough myself
he was on okcupid with the nickname of clapsge 38 years old (his English was really good in typing)
his profile is not there anymore but found this on google, claimed that he was in Australia before he reach his location

he claimed that he is from US military army and his wife died in one of the deployment has 2 kids one 4 and 7
on a mission to Nigeria to get the kidnap girls free... said he doesn’t have enough food in jungle and his members have no food (he said they didn’t bring enough with them) and the military wouldn’t supply more to them (unbelievable) and one of his member got hurt in an explosion.. the military wouldn’t send help (this is even more unbelievable).

i am not sure to report this officially or not as i actually pity the real guy(from the photo) who the scammer uses claim is him.
this scammer actually involve this guys kids in the photo. i still have the photos of this real guy (not the scam guy) (actually with him in uniform with his children)

We appreciate your help in identifying scammers. Please post a couple of his initial emails to you and his email address.

His English was good because it was all a copy and paste. If he had wrote longer you would have seen that he had poor grammar.

His script is typical wife dead and and no one to help him but an internet girlfriend.

There are no US Military troops on the grounds in Nigeria looking for the missing girls. The US only sent support personnel to help locate the girls.

The US Military will provide food and medical services to those that are deployed.

Only scammers believe that the US Military will not take care of their Soldiers.

ETA: There is nothing to report. The scammer is using a fake name and stolen pictures. The victim of the stolen pictures is probably aware of the scam. The owner of the pictures is a victim of the scammer also.

wow...! its terrible so many scammer out there really can't trust any dating website

I'm here in Washington state in the U.S. He's paying here now and luckily the red flags started in my mind. He asked to transfer money to me so that I could transfer to a realtor. I actually saw the house for rent so he did some homework and had a local phone number. Before I transferred any of that money to a realtor he changed his story to his team needed food. I know the military never goes without so I said I wouldn't transfer him money. The bank ended up calling saying the funds were fraudulent so it was a good thing I hadn't done anything with it our I would have been responsible for it. Now he's threatening though. I forwarded the email from the bank where they say the money is fraudulent and reported to my local police department. After i sent that to him i haven't heard anything else. They told me to report it to the military as well.

I am sorry you found yourself tangled with a scammer, but very glad you caught on before forwarding any money.

Local police departments often are not very familiar with these crimes. The military does not take reports of these crimes because real soldiers are not involved. These particular crimes are handled by IC3, and you should report it there.

I was advised just to file a report with both from the banks to just get something on record, period. I've taken it to the FBI as well, which made the official report. This scammer doesn't ask for your money. He wants money transferred to you and then wants you to transfer that money which is fraudulent money. You end up being responsible for the fraudulent monies though.

We absolutely do advise reporting to the bank, police, IC3, and depending on the situation, FTC or the postal inspector.

I was specifically referring to the military. The US military has published warnings on these scams, and they don't want reports made directly to them; rather, they will refer you to IC3 and FTC.

I just came across this post looking for Garry Clapsaddle because I started talking to someone 2 days ago that says Garry is his realtor. Apparently he's moving onto other sites and using other names. I found him on datehookup.com and he's using the name Parker Dominion and his email is now [email protected].

He has fed me the same story and all of the same photos; however, I've called him out multiple times on sounding like a scam and foreign when he sends messages. He just says he was raised in Brazil, likely story.

He's just getting tot he part where he wants me to help me. I got an email from his "agent" about a house he wants to buy and he started talking about not being sure how to handle getting the funds. I work closely with law enforcement, so this hasn't sounded right from the beginning. It's only been 2 days and he thinks he loves me and wants me to move in. Be careful out there ladies!
