i am from norway too.. i have some cases like this but my man who i applied for is here in norway me with... so you should be careful..am sorry about your loss..

Admin note by dotti:

This post was made by a scammer who is trying to convince victims that you could apply for leave for a soldier and it might be real. It is NEVER real. The moment you are asked to apply for leave, or phone, or anything else for a "soldier" you have met online, you can be absolutely certain you are dealing with a scammer, as the US military does NOT allow people from outside the military to apply for ANYTHING for people in the military.

In addition to his false claims in his post, the scammer cannot make up his mind - he claims to be in Norway, yet he has used an American email address, [email protected] He also recently used this same address to advertise a house for rent in Tennessee, US.

Dotti... on your [email protected] he pulled the information for that House add from Zillow it is almost verbatim...

Another scammer.... nothing new

Also a warning someone decided to try and steal my friends info and post as him on Facebook. Ladies if you get a Friend request from Anyone that claims to work at the USA Army this is a good sign of a hoax. Also if you have no clue who they are please do not accept and then check and see if they are following you. Also they will normally follow the person they are claiming to be.

I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade.

Just wondering if anyone can help me........ I've been 'chatting' to a guy for a few weeks now - we met on an internet dating site. He claims to be in the US Army currently serving in Afghan and I have had no reason to doubt this - but today he has just asked me to write an E-mail to the 'Admin Office' requesting authorisation for us to have phone calls.
It seems a bit strange to me that I would be the one having to request this authorisation and not him????
The address he has asked me to write to is [email protected]

I don't know if this is a scam or not...... what do you think????

Hi
I am sorry but this is a SCAM !
Read th posts above here, and you get the answer. Its a scam !
No soldier has to ask for a leave from someone outside or pay them anything , NO ONE !!!
Nothing real about this .
Just delete him and get him out of your life before you get hurt , because you will be if you continue.
And dont tell him anything , he dont need to be more educated .And dont tell him about this site .
Take care .

Welcome to ScamWarners annie42, II am sorry you were taken in by this scammer. Typically, this type of scammer is interested in instant cash sent to him by Western Union. These criminals are not looking for identity theft, they ask for that personal information to sound "official".

There is actually nothing you can to to help a member of the military receive a leave.

I would monitor my banking information to make certain my identity has not been stolen.

Hello all,

I just wanted to add something to my previous post.

U.S. Soldiers (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) Can not, I Repeat CAN NOT, name someone not family as their beneficiary. If you get an email saying that you are the beneficiary to their benefits you should immediately see the scam. Military Personnel are only allowed to add Direct Family (Mother, Father, Sister, Brother) or Married Partner (Wife, Husband) to their SGLI.

Also, If you get an email threatening you after you break contact with them they know you are onto them. They will say a lot of things to get you to respond. Please Don't it only makes them feel stronger.

Be Smarter, Stronger, and better then those that would try and take your hard earned money from you. Report them.

Also remember they are stealing identities of soldiers that have no idea this is happening. I have made quite a few aware that they are being used and have been thanked more then once. I took an oath to protect the people, I take that oath seriously even after retiring.

Good Luck and Browse Safe.

Thank you for adding that Rich.

I just want to reiterate: By married, Rich is referring to a legally recognized marriage. Some scammers will start referring to their victims as "husband' or "wife" or will claim that some ceremony has been held. Some may claim that being "engaged' is enough.

None of these scenarios are recognized by any branch of the US military.
