Information on romance scams and scammers.

I typed in part of a letter into google that I received from a guy I met on a website. I was starting to really dig this guy until 2 days ago he asked me to send 75,000 to a company he was doing business with in Tawaiian so he could complete a contract. He claims he was on the way to a bank in London where he is stationed for his contract and just before he deposited the cash the company gave him he was beaten and robbed and had his money stolen. LOL. First of all I highly doubt a reputable major company would give anyone that much cash. Why not just write a check? Second, the nerve of someone asking for 75,000 from someone you know for 2 weeks. I said I had no money and he said okay how about 5000. I said no. He said okay I can work with 1000 just enough to get me home and get into my safe where I have 100,000s of dollars and can easily pay you back and fulfill my contract. LOL Does this guy think I am a complete moron? He must! So back to the letters he's written. I typed in part of the letter he wrote me and the search took me to this website. I started reading the poems received by Jillian from Travis John. They are ALL exactly like the ones I received!!!!!!! I would be happy to forward them all to you if you're curious. I'll paste one here:

How do I begin to profess my love for you my beloved Lori ? The love that I possess in my heart can only be felt … never explained. Words are lacking and language is born of inadequacy when it comes to the affairs of my heart. There are no songs as beautiful as the music that has filled my soul since the day you came into my life. I have been changed forever.
We were created for each other. You and I have been together since the beginning of time … souls entwined, loving among the stars. And I will love you until the stars no longer shine. You are my reason for living, and I exist only for you. My every heartbeat returns the breath of your name.
You have given me a new version of myself. You have healed a scarred heart and brought into your light a love that I never knew resided within me. My eyes, that have only known tears of pain, now know tears of happiness. I will feel no rain because you are my shelter and I will feel no cold, for you are my warmth. In you, I know I am home.
Some people wait their whole lives never finding the one they love … never finding the one kiss that sets their spirit free and the touch that reaches beyond their skin and penetrates straight to their heart and soul. Surely, I am blessed because I have found that one in you. All that I have ever wanted is encapsulated in everything that you are.
Love Always Robert

The other ones are exactly like the ones you posted. What a worthless piece of crap this guy is!

Welcome to ScamWarners Lori1987. Good on you to recognize the signs of a scam. Most scammers believe that the people they are scamming have plenty of money and really have no concept of what 75,000 is. As you experienced, he was willing to negotiate down to try to get something from you. He would have accepted 5.00 from you if you would send it. It is all "free money" to him.

I trust you have quit communicating with this scammer. If not, I recommend you stop emailing him.

It will also be helpful if you can post the email address he used to communicate to you. Also, if you would post the Headers to the email it is helpful too.

I am glad that you didn't send any money to this criminal.

I agree, thanks goodness I didn't even send him 5.00. I don't email him anymore and I took him off my yahoo messenger. His email address is [email protected]. The other weird thing is he gave me all this personal information, ie., a US address, phone #, birthdate. I don't want to waste my money doing a background check because I already know he's a fraud and probably had a record. I did try to call his phone number when I first started talking to him and of course it was disconnected. The reason he gave was because he was out of the country and didn't have it hooked up. Okay? Then why give out your number at all? Did you not think I'd try to use it? Also, I can't be totally sure that Travis John and Robert Alburger are the same person but they obviously went to the same poetry sites to get their "love poetry". THANK GOODNESS you have this site because it gave me a forum to warn others about him and also thank you for the support. It's appreciated.

Welcome here. I'm glad to hear that our information helped you! Thanks for posting further info.

It may or may not be the same scammer. They do use some of the same info so it's sometimes hard to tell. If you have been targeted by the same scammer, be aware that this one is more clever than most and may contact you using other names or with other ploys. He joined this forum several times, even posing as a victim, and then emailed me back and forth for a while, something scammers don't normally do.

Please let us know if you receive anything else suspicious or have questions.

@ Jillian... Muah.. How have you been and im sorry I didn't write back then, go into something else like i promised you that I will. Thanks for those words and yes, that is definitely not me. For Lori, if i (Travis D John, yea this is my full name.. lol) was to scam you, I don't need to bill you $75,000 firstly. We will get there when the time is right, so stop feeling smart and who ever was using my letter didn't get to know if He had your heart or not. The game is not played like that so that player sucks.. lol. Jillian, send me and email lets continue from where we stopped.. I will be happy to help you cos I stopped when I promised you.
Cheers.
Travis John.

Dear Travis John

You should stick to poetry that you copy and paste from other websites otherwise it's impossible to understand what you're talking about.

Are you insinuating that you've stopped scamming? An amusing story, I'm sure. If you want to contact me, send me an email to Jillian AT ScamWarners.com. I've banned your account.

Welcome Desert Flower. Good job spotting the scammer! Please stop all contact with him. He's very likely to come back here to check for his info if he gets suspicious, so please don't toy with him and certainly don't mention anything about ScamWarners.

For info on how to post a picture, please see this topic: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=3219
