Hi guys,

May I send this somewhere private as well as the picture until I see if I am able to get my money back from him. $300 may not seem like much but this is all I had left after bills. Also, he gave me the number of someone he had a "business meeting" with in California to tell them he would be late for their meeting because he was in the hospital after being mugged. I assume this is his partner in crime. I still have the number and although private, it is a landline. Is it possible to involve the police once I find out it is a scam?

Lol...suggested to him today to consult with the clergy at Heatherow if the embassy will not help him with the additional funds needed to change his airline ticket dat because of the mugging.

Yes here is your scammer and the text quote gives many more scam links than I add here as well as more of the identical text. It is likely to be same one. They are not inventive, nor educated.

If you sent the money by Western Union or Money Gram you will never get the money back. You can check with either to see whether its been picked up.

What you have posted on the forum is a typical romance scam. Began Steele has already posted to you similiar letters/scripts used by the scammers.

I can not say whether you have a real landline or not. Scammers are using Magic Jacks and google voice for US numbers. After reading the letters you posted. I will say it is 100% scam. He will now try to get more money out of you. If you confront him with his lies he will deny them and say we are lying. You do need to keep in mind that since you fell victim to him he will now target you for future scams and sell your email address to other scammers. They like come back with a recovery scam. This scam promises to get your back from being scammed. The scam will ask you for more money via Western Union or Money Gram to get you money back.

You need to cease contact with him and block him. Do what it take to warn others by posting his email address and pictures. Do not tell him he is posted here.

You can report it to the police. Most of the time the scammer is out of country and out of reach of US Law Enforcement. Many countries the Police can be bribed.

You can and should report Internet Crime Complaint Center. http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

Sorry you were scammed do not feel like an idiot. Many have and more will be in your same situation.

Oh yes, I did. I am not a vengeful person but I want this sob to pay! He continues to contact me and hint at needing money b/c he had to change his ticket date after he was "mugged" and required hospital attention. I originally sent this to his name in the UK and then he asked me to drive back to the city (I live in a small town) and re-send to a woman in the Phillippens as he was paying her directly for his medical costs? My suggestion to him about the ticket was You are a man of faith, they have clergy at Heatherow you can speak to if the US embassy can't help you. I refuse to give this person another cent. He asked me to change the destination after I began questioning his story. Oh...also, why did he ask me to take a picture of the Western Union transfer and send this to him just before he had me change the destination? Any thoughts on this? Do you even understand how pissed I am right now that Match allows scammers like this on their site???? There needs to be more regulation around dating websites.

Ugggg...I feel sick!

His gmail is [email protected] or [email protected] which was opened when I noticed he had Eastern European women in his circles.

Also, I have the number and telco I called him at in the UK, explained the situation and they asked I report this to the UK police which I will also do.

One last question...I cant seem to post the pic..please direct me how to do this. No worries, I will not say a word about this website to him. Want any sob out there like this caught!!

Thank you!

@karmababy,

Thanks for posting the email address of the scammer. The scammer needs the scan of the Western Union slip for a couple possible reasons. One is he is not in the UK or Philippines and need extra proof to bribe the western union that he is the rightful receiver. The other is a receiver picks up multiple payments and he need proof of what was sent to him. (So he is not scammed by another scammer)

Thank you for posting this for me! Lol..I have not heard back after suggesting he talk to the US consulate in the UK regarding the additional funds to return home. I think he knows I am onto him. Btw...now I am a little concerned as he has asked me for pics which I did send. Could he potentially use these to set up another fraudulent identity?

Thank you,

Well, 200% a scam. I called the number back for his business associate and guess what...it is Magic Jack or something similar. Now I am on a mission!!

Thank you again!
