lo...
holding onto the fantasy...
you're very right...it's his dream and he refuses to let go of it...

we spoke yesterday....
i told him that i couldnt tell him anymore stuff coz
he keeps on telling her and she just re jigs her story and adapts it to suit etc

he reckons she was
"made to do the porn in ghana...
it's all in her past..."

i gave up..and said "ok you've been told ..get on with it"

and i think he's got the hump with me..
remember don't kill the messenger...

so im telling him nothing...

but i have had an idea..gleaned from other scam tales etc ....

delete this if it's giving clues etc ....

he is adamant that she is turning up on feb 2nd at manc' airport
he is convinced because she doesn't want his money
and hasn't asked for any...

this is what im guessing....

on the morning of feb 2nd ,
he will get a phone call from a member of her family in ghana
they will tell him that she "his honey" has been involved in a serious car crash
hospitalised and very ill, she wants him to travel to ghana to see her in hospital

lovelorn and sad he tries to draw from the bankers draught the fare to travel
but it's a duffer so he spends his own money and travels to ghana

once there he will be taken by the scam gang and held as a hostage

they have his address bank details etc etc ...
and will contact his family for a ransom

the british embassy /f.o will raise an eyebrown,
hold out their hands and say
"there's nothing we can do "

thats what i think may be their plan...

otherwise ..daft as he has now become
even he must question her credibilty if
she doesnt turn up as announced on feb 2nd

i could be wrong .
we shall see.

Although situations like kidnaping for ransom have and do happen it's pretty rare. More than likely the scammer will come up with sone kind of emergency at the last minute like her passport was seized she had all of her traveling money stollen or similar. "She" will need him to western union some money to help her.

The fact "she" hasn't asked for money yet means nothing and I guarantee "she" soon will. The scammers have already made off with the items he sent so they know he is a compliant victim. The scammer is just sinking his hooks further in your freind knowing if he plays it slow he will get money.

Hopefully your freind will finally wise up when the trip falls through and the scammer ask for money.

....
an update....

there isn't one.

we had a chat on the phone last week , he asked me to check again ..
i said NO.

people find that word one of the hardest words to say...in case we offend...
pay no heed...it's easy .....just say NO. 8)

so i rang him the other day and his phones off and no reply yet...

from this ..
knowing my mate...

i surmise....

"don't kill the messenger" is a very wise saying....

it's meant to enlighten and forwarn the messenger...

and i have a feeling....i'm getting the blame....
even though he ASKED me to check it's now....

"it's your fault ...i asked her that stuff and now she doesn't trust me etc etc "

fair enough...he's a good mate but he is one of my
negative competative mates...and they tire me out eventually...

so i'm not chasing him....

people say...you never rang me"

the phone works two ways says me :D

she's meant to arrive in 2 days time....
i know not whether it's still on ....

but the denoument approaches ( i LOVE that word)

i lost interest when i sensed i was getting blamed...
i do have her email but am loathe now to interfere ...etc
i'll pass it on to you in a bit....

any news i'll let you know
cheers for you help

.....
Ps

having heard nowt from him for over a week,
me and my mates agree that it wouldn't be too big a suprise
if i got a phone call from him saying....

"hiya mate , i'm in ghana you couldn't do us a favour could you"?

.............
telepathy REALLY works..you just gotta believe.

my mate just rang !!

and all is well....

we chatted about normal stuff this that and the other....

and then ..well i had to ask didn't I...

I kept it jokey ......

"so go on then ..what's happening with yer bird " says me...

"Oh i've sacked her off mate says he....
i went on the net myself and checked all those scam sites...
and i downloaded the pages and sent them to her...so she knows i know."...

"good lad " says me...
"Now get back out there and get a real woman with legs and arms and a ...."

never gonna get the actual story....he has to save face ..which is fair enough..
i had to keep reminding him over the last few weeks...
"I am on YOUR side don't forget"

.....
i knew he couldn't be totally mental..
you're known by your friends they say...
and my friends aren't mental !!

but he did go weird for a bit....

he says he's back on the dating site and chatting to
2 women..one from africa , and one from columbia..

I said ...
"behave ..get one from manchester or birmingham, or something"..

he said
"They're the only ones who have contacted him"..

so i suggested ...
just contact a few ..see if any reply..
it's only the internet..not as if it's real life is it...

ladies beware ..he IS a serial romancer....
if you're on a dating site ,watch out for the name tag.....

(ahh but that wouldn't be fair on my mate would it...) :)

again ...
thanks.

telepathy beats telephony every time
