Information on romance scams and scammers.

Hello, I read with much interest the posts regarding Anastasiya Rusinova, this is my story.
Around two months ago a girl called Oksana contacted me through an adult dating site called Benaughty asking for my email address. My first mistake was to give it to her because I did not think there would be any harm in it.
Immediately she replied tellling me about herself and enclosing a photograph. In fact she emailed me three times over a period of a week before I got round to replying. I was immediately suspicious that she was a scammer but I was intrigued as to how it would turn out.
Over a period of about five weeks we exchanged emails and always I get lovely photos of her.
Her written english was very erratic, sometimes grammatically incomprehensible.
Another feature was that she never replied to any direct questions I asked about her life.
She would ask about my life and interests but thereafter never made any comment on what I had told her about myself.
Her basic story was that she was brought up by her grandmother who she lived with and that she was more or less estranged from her own parents who did not devote much time to her as a child.
She lived with her grandmother and worked as a nursery teacher or primary school teacher.
She did not care much for Russian men and looked to the western european male for a life partner seeing them as more sophisticated and treating woman as equels. Hence her interest in me.
She went on to tell me that a previous romance with a Spaniard had ended in disaster with her having her money taken by him , him abandoning her in Spain being horrid to her and having to be rescued by her parents business contacts in Spain!
Throughout her emails she tells me she has fallen in love with me, how I am the man for her.I am so noble and honest!
Throught out this correspondence I wait for the moment she asks for money.
Eventually she tells me that she has been to the travel agency to organise travel visa, tickets, medical examination to visit me. She also tells me she has been given three months leave from the school she works at . All this occurs on New Year when everybody would be on holiday!
I am very sceptical now , as I do not think any rational person would leave there job to visit a man thousands of miles away without even talking on the phone.
I tell her not to be so hasty we should talk on the phone and maybe plan a short holiday on neutral territory to get to know one another but this falls on deaf ears.
Then she tells me she does not have the money and she will ask the parents! Of couse the parents refuse and she asks me for the money!
I say no I don,t have it. She offers a compromise and says her father will pay half.
At this point I have to reveal my suspicions to her. I tell her I would not dream of sending money to someone I never met. I tell her that she might be anybody and the photos she sends may be hijacked from some poor innocent girl.
I offer her analternative plan . I tell her I will write to her parents to reassure them I am of good standing. I will send her money for a phone and calling credit and I will pay for a holiday for two weeks for both of us to get acqainted and no obligations of a sexual nature! The holiday could be somewhere accesible for both of us say Sweden. This again falls on deaf ears.
I get an indignant email telling me to contact the travel agency if I don,t believe her.She doesn,t give me their details though.
Then at the beginning of this week it starts to get interesting and serious.
The travel agency email me to tell me about Oskana,s travel plans and how they cannot issue the tickets until they are paid and then she can travel to visit me. Oskana also emails me abut two minutes later!
I email them , the travel agency , back and ask how do I pay and will they give me a their web address and ATOL registration or similar so I can verify that they are bona fide.
They email me back giving me bank account details to receive payment but suggest Western Union is better.
They do have a web site and they did email a certificate but as it was in Russian I had no idea what it was.
The travel agents name was Anastasiya Rusinova.
I google her and find your site I read "puppets" post! The email address is the same! The postal address is the same! the Travel Agency is Das Travel. The bank account numbers they quoted are the same. Anastasiya Rusinova is a known scammer. Now I am 100% convinced I am being scammed.
Now this afternoon I get a phone call. It is Oskana, it throws me completely , now I am actually speaking to a real live person! She sounds nice, her spoken english so much better than her writings.
The conversation lasts 9 minutes , most of this time Oksana bleats on about when will I send the money. I feel bad saying I will send it in a few days when I can organise it, knowing I never will!
Maybe Oksana is really Anastasiya Rusinova, who knows?
MY final act will be to email Oksana and tell her the game is up , I have rumbled her.
Until I found your site I was tempted to send the money just to satisfy my curiousity that I am being scammed. Don,t be such a fool I tell myself.
I hope this will help others. I will never reply to another unsolicited email from abroad , ever again. I have not lost any money but I have paid with so much anguish.
