Information on romance scams and scammers.

I agree , it would take an Army but my problem has always been that whenever I see injustice, I don't mind going the extra step. I did research this and , in fact, the US Army does handle these complaints through their own Criminal Investigation Department ( CID ) and have issued public statements in the past encouraging individuals to alert them. I will be doing so because, although there is little one can do legally, it does lay a paper trail. It does document the names of military men and women that have had their identities stolen and are being fraudulently used. That is the other side of the scam; some of these identities could be the victims of such a scam themselves or have had identities stolen in the past. I would enccourage anyone who has a name associated with this image to come forward and post it , so that the general public are alerted to the names used and the type of content this malicious creature is using.
The fact that Kathrine did such a thorough job is to be commended ! There is and was nooooooo denying that it was a scammer and this person was actually cutting and pasting the same information over and over again. So, he/she is getting lazy and getting sloppier . Sloppy people make more mistakes or at the very least have to work harder to re-think the scam. :D

You are both right in what you say. I am afraid it is just statistics, Statistics are how scammer operate too as a percentage success among many failures. For each "so many thousand" failures there will be "so many x" successes. The drivel will be reworked and recycled and while victims produce new information it will also get more convincing. Scammers are masters of cut and paste. I/we know some soldiers are aware they have stolen photos used but once stolen that use will be at will of the criminal and if it works he will use it. Perhaps if they associated scam and terrorism Governments would do more but never otherwise.

Be ware cause he is using other names as well. I have been following a few of them. He was using buda alexander and I see he is using Larry VKesse with all the information that everyone is sharing. I was on Zoosk and he was on there with at least 3 or 4 names. I have seen it on Christian Mingle as well. Different pics everytime. Makes me mad how they are using someone elses identity and pics to scam .....

Now he goes by the name "Maricle", but gives no first name. I knew something was hokey right from the start as I could tell he was trying too hard to "prove" he was for real. Each time I got an email from him: address [email protected] the "endearment" escalated. His emails were possessive. You're the one for me, I'm your man- your only man, yada yada yada. Same BS that he would be on leave for 3 weeks. Now he has been a widower for 5 years with 2 daughters Joy and Remy. I exchanged a few emails, trusting my instincts that something wasn't right. The time stamps didn't jive. Now I had time, I looked up the name Maricle in USAF and found a guy and his working dog who looked just like the jerk emailing scams. Since solidifying my suspicions, I sent him an email asking for his fighter wing and post and don't expect he will respond. Always trust your instincts... I'm glad I found your posts to confirm. Thanks, ladies, and wish you all the best!

Hello, all...

If one of you are still on Zoosk, maybe you could look up this idiots profile. When I "met" him, he was going by the last name Maricle. If you go to his profile, maybe you could help us all out and report his profile. I am unable to do so myself as I cancelled my membership for a variety of reasons, this was just the icing on the cake. The email address he was using was [email protected]. I tried calling the cust svc # for Zoosk to no avail.

This "person" is using legit military names to scam women. I can't even begin to convey my level of anger at this lowlife defiling the good name of a US military office. I confronted the scammer, and when I did he sent me a threatening email- saying I would be punished for what I did and he would be rid of me soon (as if he ever had me). Fortunately, I did not provide any identifying personal info nor do I scare easily. I wish I could email the actual USAF Sgt to let him know...

We all need to band together and make an effort to stop immoral cretins like this. We need to report these scammers where they are scamming. SPEAK UP all, the only way we can affect change is by taking action. If you are fearful that this person will find you, rest assured this person is a COWARD who hides behind anonymity.

I, for one, am now on a mission (no pun intended)... I am contacting yahoo with all the email addresses you provided and alerting them that their company is being used as a conduit to defraud people.

Unfortunately, there is more than one person involved in these scams. There are literally thousands of African scammers running the exact same scams, using photos of a huge number of soldiers to support their fake identity.

As contrary as it may seem, we strongly recommend against reporting email addresses to yahoo, etc. It takes them less than 5 minutes to switch to a new address and keep scamming--but when they switch email addresses, you lose the value of any posted warnings that might have helped a new victim.

If you want to help fight them, one of the things you can do is find and post scammer information. Set up a profile on dating sites that is not traceable to you. When a scammer approaches you, take it as far as getting the email address (which usually takes no more than 3 messages, sometimes on the first.) Then post the scammer's initial messages and email address here. You also might want to check out our sister site, 419eater.com to see some of the other things we do to make life a bit (or a whole lot) more difficult for scammers.
