This scammer is not on an Oil Rig. He is in Lagos, Nigeria. He is more than likely in an internet cafe writing his scam emails trying to steal money from women.

I am currently in contact with this "Charles David" with the EXACT e-mails sent to me as well as the pictures..... he has justnow asked me to open a bank account for him "as he is at work and there are problems with his bank, and he has made me the SOLE person to handle his affairs" [b]IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP RIGHT NOW SINCE I AM IN CONTACT WITH HIM???? IS THERE A OPEN CASE SOMEWHERE WHERE I CAN CALL SOMEONE WHO IS HANDLING THIS FRAUD???? I AM WILLING TO HELP IN ANY WAY I CAN!! I think it is sick for this person to do this to us!!!

Mrs. C Bernard- So much of that letter sounds like the stuff that came from the 'young lady' that I just broke away from. Sounds like your guy is from Ghana or Nigeria. The misspellings and bad grammar are much like them too. Don't even get me started about a voice on the phone that sounds nothing like it would be expected to. But to clear a couple of things- the use of a lower case 'i' is not necessarily a problem, I do it quite often myself just to make typing easier, especially since I can't type, and the computer doesn't always put a capital when you want it. It has been my experience that scammers do NOT delete their profiles in all cases, it would be an even bigger red flag if they left the profile on.

Something that threw me often was time that chats take place. 7 PM Pacific is about 1 AM in Ghana/ Nigeria, it is difficult to believe an internet cafe is open at that hour. Maybe a few do have their own computers? Another thing that changed several times in my last few chats when looking at the icons on the Yahoo Messenger chat box, only a couple of times did it indicate that video both ways was possible, same regarding voice chat. It sends confusing info as to whose computer they are using, which I would guess is how it's designed- the longer they have been at this, the more confusing they can make it for you. But I know from way too much experience the biggest 'leave this alone' is the request to send money to Africa, they most often request Western Union. Listen to experience---DO NOT DO IT!!!!!

I have just read your profile of your mother's contact. It sounds very like my scammer who told me he was an oil contractor, travelled from San Antonio, Tx to Nigeria. Guess what? As soon as he landed in Nigeria, he asked me to help him out as his credit card wouldn't work and he needed money for hotel and security. We originally met up on Christian Mingle. Like your mother, I was very naïve. It was my first time in any sort of romantic relationship for many years. He also took his profile from Christian Mingle and we started talking on Yahoo IM. I am sorry to say I did send him money and now I have had to re-mortgage my home to get out of debt. This all happened last year and he is supposedly still stuck out there and still asking me for money to get a flight home.

I noticed you were able to retrieve the IP address from the information this man was sending. How is this done? I would love to know where my scammer is based.

Please tell your mum NOT TO SEND ANY MONEY. He may come up with some story about his credit card not working in Ireland.
