Welcome to Scamwarners,

You have given us very basic information.

Scammers often will have scripts prepared to send to victims. Sometimes they will alter them a little to fit the scam.

Beside the script being similar are the photo's the same.

Hi 1920diva and welcome to scamwarners. Chances are the man you are talking to is a scammer. Most scammers will claim to be from somewhere in the US but either in a foreign country or claiming to be about ready to travel to one. That way, they can be somewhere unfamiliar, a problem ensues, and they need to request your money. If you could post any information here- emails, photos, etc we can help confirm this.
My scammer claimed to have lived in Jamaica most of his life and I was not used to listening to someone with a Nigerian accent, so he easily fooled me. Just remember to trust your gut if something tells you part of his story isn't right. I'm thinking that gut reaction led you here.
Do not tell him you suspect he is a scammer, as he will deny it.

When I get to my computer tomorrow I will post the pictures he has sent me. I'm not sure how to get them in this post from my iPhone. I suspected he was a scammer around day 3. You don't fall in love with someone you never met within 3 days

I too just recently was scamed I went on match.com and got a reply by a man saying he would like to chat and email with me. So I created a extra email account so that if I needed to I could delete it if things did not work out.
To make a long story short he was a sculpture and his name was Fred Dempsey Milner. Everything about where he was born, grew up matches Richard the sculpture to a T. Every email was exactly the same as Richards and that he had to go to Cape Town South Africa to get supplies for his client at Paarl the open market.he was staying at the heritage hotel and suited at city central overlooking table mountain.
he was also born in Alberta had a Canadian mom in an English dad and also lived at the Haunslow community urban farm located in feltham Middlesex.
All the emails were full of love poems /verses from a online love site and he just added my name to them.
His text messages were constant to me and he said how much he was in love with me and wanted to meet me in Florida on his way back from south africa. I told him many times I did not believe him and how I could not find out anything about him but he would say he would prove everything to me in Florida. I was cautious but i new he was full of it.
He had the words and I loved it.
I then started to look up phrases he used and found this site and my Fred was someone's Richard. Word for word. I was heartbroken.this went on for 3 weeks. I told him I did not believe him and that we end this.
The next day he said he was heartbroken also and was in the hospital. And I have not heard from him since its been 4days

His email address was [email protected]
Phone in South Africa was 277-354-68017. 278-409-68690
Also said he just bought a house in Indiana and I look up the house and it's for sale the phone number there was <removed telephone number to a legitimate real estate company that is not part of the scam. Mike Wilson>

Hello Edna,
Thank you for posting this information on the scammer. The best thing to do now is to ignore all emails, messages and telephone calls from this criminal. Just go silent and do not tell him that you know he is a scammer.

The mention of the hospital is an indication that he may contact you asking for money to pay for phony medical expenses.

It is ALWAYS a scam
If the pet seller or shipper asks for money to be sent via Western Union, Money Gram, any brand of gift card. Walmart To Walmart , Zelle , PayPal friends and family option, or mentions Cameroon

I have pictures of him but don't no how to get them online here at the site. The man who calls himself Fred, well his pictures are different than Richard. but everything he emailed to me and texted to me were the same exact that were sent to you and I too fell in love with his words also. I knew it was to good to be true and confronted him in saying to him that it was impossible to fall in love with me when he has not even met me. He said he was divorced and had a 9 year old daughter. He sent me 3 pictures of him and his daughter. He was supposed to come to Florida to meet me when his work in south Africa was don. Funny thing is I was getting use to hearing from him every morning and thru out the day. How do you put pictures on the site ?
