If the girl stated she was in Ohio. Treat as a scam. Follow the advice page one first post. Ignore all future contact. Do not answer calls from numbers you do not know.

I was fooled last weekend. I'm 99.99% sure its a scam i just need reassurance becasue im freaking out big time...

So was on POF...talking to a girl who a few messages in asked for my number because she had no data. So i gave it to her. We were texting and she asked for a headshot for her contacts (not an unreasonable offer). So i sent here one and she sent one back. So we were talking and then started exchanging pictures. I dont know this person from a hole in the wall so i sent her a picture of my penis from one I got off of Tumblr. She sent one back (could not see her face in any of them.) so i asked her for one with her face in it to prove she was real but she refused. She then asked how old I was, I said i was 18 and she said she was 17 and turning 18 in two days. After that I kept asking for pictures with her face in it to prove she was real (because i felt like it was a scam) but she never replied.

Next day I got a call from her father saying he was Mr. Bowen and his wife found the pictures on the phone. He said that she got "legal" advice from an officer in my town (did some research that officer does not exist in my town or any of the surronding) whom they went to church with about how to to proceed. He said his wife had the paper work drawn up but she was waiting to hear from him about his talk with me before he went any further. So he said he had taken his daughters phone away and that he was going to cancel it but he needed $486 to deavtivate it because he didnt have the money for it. i said i didnt have the money for it and I would have to wait until I got paid before i could give him the money. I asked how he'd like it and he said through Western Union, Pay Pal, Moneygram etc...i asked if cash would work and he said yes so i asked for his address and he refused. So i told him id be in touch at the end of the week. Later that night (about 2am) i got a text from the daughers phone (why would she have it if he took it??) saying hey, i did not respond. Both numbers were SC numbers by the way and im in Vermont with a Mass number.

Fast forward to today i received a call and text from the father saying i needed to call him (i then blocked his number hoping thatd be the end of it.) This evening i received a call from the friend in law enforcement saying i needed to stick to the agreement i made with the father otherwise i was going to jail. Funny part is the guy saying he was law enforcement stated a diiferent name than the one the father gave me, and stated he was from the state police not the local police department (like the father said the friend was from). But i looked up the number and it was actually the number from the State Police. Can scammers screen numbers to make it look like theyre calling from somewhere else, even somewhere legit? Im pretty sure they can but this part has me freaking out the most (even though im sure its fake) because its the most real thing. So i blocked that number too.

About 2 hours later I get a call from another number....this time Massachusetts and its the father again. Hes pissed because ive blocked his other two numbers and Im not sticking to the agreement we made and if i dont call him he'll have me locked up.

Im so sure its a scam, but im terribly freaked out. They have no other information of mine except my number and info from POF. They dont have any other social media information of mine which is all blocked and private and the avatar pictures are far different than my POF picture and the one they have of me. Should I still deactivate my social media? What should I do? Im pretty freaked out even though i know its a scam.

Daughters number (Hailey)- 803-653-5210

Fathers Number (Mr. Bowen)- 843-415-1785

Second number the father called me on- 774-536-2850

Should i expect them to keep calling me? Or will they eventually go away? Thanks everyone.

It is a scam.

What is the name of the fake girls profile and link?

Either quit answering calls from unknown numbers or change your phone number.

Do not respond to any text or calls.

Eventually, when the scammer knows there is no chance of a pay day from you he will move on.

If the scammer does not have your real name cancel your POF account. You will need to either temporarily deactivate all social media attached to any photo's, user name and language used on POF or cancel the accounts.
They have no other information of mine except my number and info from POF.

Please read page one the first post.

Yes, scammers can make phone calls appear to come from other sources.

The girls profile is gone. The name was HailzIlove or something to that extent my apologies i do not remember the name i deleted my POF as soon as i felt like i was being scammed. All it had was a single picture of a blonde haired girl wearing a green shirt. The angle of the picture was like the girl was holding the phone up above her head in a selfie style fashion.

I know its a scam, its just really nerve wracking and scary. Im suprised these guys go to these extreme lengths..theyre quite persistent. Def learned my lesson not to answer calls like that.

I'm glad you know it is a scam. These scammers are using prepaid cell phones and spoofing numbers.

They are not quite familiar with the laws and other things. We will not discuss this because we do not want to educate the scammer.

Scammers/thieves will go to any extreme to steal. Read your paper or watch the news.

Your lesson should be anyone can be who they want to be on the internet. Social media should be private. I know you said you did not. People should not send compromising photo/s to anyone. Once sent you have no control of the photo's.

As a note. Scammers can create fake video chat.

Be safe, Bryon

I think am a victim of the same guy! I am freaking out and have had anxiety attacks this whole week.
A week ago on Friday I start messaging this guy in Hornet (a gay dating app). His profile says he is 18, but I still asked him how old he was and he didn't answer it. We kept messaging and I showed him my face and after a few messages he gives me his number and wants to text bc he doesn't like to use the app for some reason. He says his name is Jamie Greene and asked me if I have fb. I asked if he has snapchat bc I started to suspect something weird. He doesn't have snapchat. So eventually I text him and he says he is from Columbia SC and moved to Charleston 3 months ago. He wants me to send a picture and I don't. Then he sends me two videos (without me asking for anything sexual) and wants a picture of me (in the video you can see its him). So I made a stupid mistake and send him a pic on my underwear, but he insists he wants to see the whole thing so I sent it. I asked him how old he was then he said he is 15 turning 16 in a few months  So I said that he shouldn't be doing this and that people can get in trouble and I stop texting and delete the videos and pictures we sent.
The next morning I get a call from his "father" calling my first and last name saying that his younger son saw his brother taking pictures in the bathroom and told his parents. In summary, he threatened to call a detective they know and bring me to jail etc.. But said he did a background search on me and saw I was no sex offender and a good person so he offered to not press charges unless I pay for half of the cost of therapy for his son bc he is very affected from this whole thing. He wants 2500$! He said his wife wants to go to the police but he said he would handle it himself. And that he will keep his sons phone with him.
I told him I don't have that money so he asked me to pay via moneygram to a rushcard in Walmart 200$ every week starting that same day. I was so scared, I believed the whole thing so I did :/. He called me a few times and gave me two other numbers in case I need to contact him. He gave me his own cellphone and later, his father's (the grandfather).
Thank God I found this forum and realized it can be a scam bc of how similar it is to the other cases. So I started ignoring his calls and texts today and don't pay the 200$ due this week, so he freaks out and keeps texting me and threatening me on talking to the "ciber sex crime detective" and some sheriff or something. And also said he will reimburse my 200$ (somehow and for me to get them in Walmart) and will proceed with the authorities.
I don't know what to do. I feel he can still go to the authorities with the messages and pictures and cause me harm, even if all is fake. Is it possible? Please give me advise on what to do. I think I will meet a lawyer just in case.
The scammer info:
Sons phone: 843-226-6435
Fathers phone: 843-580-3337
Grandfathers phone: 843-640-7141
Rushcard number: 4104-8920-0825-9654 exp: 08/19
The hornet app gives you the distance and I triangulated him and narrowed it down to a radius of a mile or two from Summerville's airport in SC. But I'm sure he can fake his distance, the man is a hacker.
Should I keep ignoring him or confront him and tell him I know it's a scam and will report him to the FBI??
I also want to know how did the other cases end up? Has he contacted you guys again? Did he go to the authorities? All the comments end in "ok I will ignore him" but no other updates.
Thanks so much.
