Yeah I just had it done to me big time, awful experience. Was checking out the site SKOUT, got a "wink" from supposedly an attractive woman who claimed to be 25, can't remember her screen name, she's been deactivated. We had a few flirtatious back-and-forths, then she insisted on going to text and I stupidly agreed. A few more back-and-forths on text where she induced me to send a couple of nudes in exchange for hers, then she stopped responding. She called me "sweets."
A few days later I got a call from 864-490-4591 (South Carolina), guy (probably white) with a thick southern accent. Had found my real name, told me we had a big problem - I had sent those pics to his 15 yr. old daughter Nikki. When he saw the pics he had smashed her laptop. His God-fearing church-going wife was coming home later that day and would flip out if she found out about me and the laptop and surely call the cops on me. He needed me to send him half the money to replace the laptop ($700) immediately so that he could replace it before the mom got home. Of course, all this didn't add up but I panicked. Plus, wisely or not, I had it in my head that once the money went through, the scammer would have officially committed a documented felony and would surely leave me alone after that. (And he assured me at least 10 times this was the last I'd hear from him, not that I took much stock in that.) So I sent him the money via Western Union.
I went home and googled "underage scams" and found this thread and felt like the fool I am, live and learn. But two days later I got a long text from him ("Mike") from the same number saying he ended up having to confess to the wife and she was about to go to the cops on me unless I paid for the other half of the laptop. I responded that I knew he was a scam, that he had committed a felony and was committing another one now and that I expected not to hear from him again.
That night I got a call from 843-226-9080, didn't answer it. The voicemail was from a southern man, not sure if it was the same one, "Hello? Hello?" Almost like he was confused.
These guys are bad news to say the least. Steer clear at all costs.
