The scammer introduced himself as Ferguson C Santacruz on 30th October, 2016 via LinkedIn.

Here is the letter he sent me (also to a lot of women – LinkedIn members):

“Dear XXXXX,
Its a wonderful moment for me coming across your profile while searching for people with similar profession as mine, am glad to be connected to you here, i have seen your experience and things you achieved for yourself. I was captivated by your looks I must say I love the way you smile please can you be kind to tell me the secret behind your beauty because you are a very beautiful woman. Please don't get me wrong I know here is LinkedIn I'm just trying to appreciate the beauty in your smile as well to tell you that you look so gorgeous, Thanks for your understanding as I hope to hear from you soon. how is the weather over there,Hope you have a wonderful day today.
Best wishes Ferguson”

After I accepted he continued:

“Dear XXXXX,
How are you doing today and how is your day going on there i hope everything is moving splendid...thanks so much for your responses regarding towards my message i really appreciate your positive response towards it...i hope you are fine? i deeply apologize for writing this on your profession page . Well I think it was a great privilege to have met with such a wonderful woman like you,i have not come here to search for a woman but your smile and beauty has made me thought so many things. I'm an independent contractor under oil and gas sector. Am widowed with a little girl. You sounds so interesting and i will like to continue this conversation with you and see what the future holds in hands for us,it will be a pleasure for me if you can tell me more about yourself and your profession, like are you married, do you have kids? that's if you don't mind pls if you don't mind can you send me your EMAIL, if you are on VIBER you can give me your viber number so we can always communicate and get to know each other very well, and also share ideas on our different profession. What do you think? don't you think that will help. I look forward to read from you again.

The profile he was using has been blocked; however, I am sure he is still communicating with women - LinkedIn members, using different names, and different profiles: CHRIS SANTACRUZ; Chris Santa Cruz; xxxxx. (

I made some photos of the scammer’s LinkedIn profiles, because all images posted here at scamwarners are automatically visible at Google search too. This will be helpful to other victims he is communicating with (unfortunately, I did not know about the scamwarners web site too).

Here are examples of LinkedIn profiles the scammer is using.

The scammer is changing names; no contacts (or very few) in the profile; no info about work experience, education, etc.

Geographic variety: USA, Brazil, India, etc.

The section “People Also Viewed” is also informative: the profile is usually viewed by the scammer from his other profiles.

I read the post and it reminded me something, so found e-mails I received from the scammer Chris Santacruz last year. He introduced himself as "an independent contractor who deals on supply of oil drilling materials" (the info was also at his LinkedIn profile before it was blocked). The beginning of the e-mail is almost the same text he e-mailed me last winter (see bellow).
Can it be that the scammer is operating on different name, now using another image?
