Information on romance scams and scammers.

In most email programs, you can delete email addresses from your contact list. By doing this, the emails will not come through automatically. They will either go to your Spam Folder or straight to Trash. You can also set it so that certain email addresses go directly to Trash.

It depends on the email program you are using.

Certainly do as Justin said, ignore and delete any emails from this scammer. If you don't they WILL keep coming back to you for money will all kinds of excuses.

It is also important that you are aware that there are Recovery Scams in which the scammer tells you he will get your money back for you for a fee. Do not believe this lie. It is not possible, and all that will happen is you will lose any money you send. Read here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3198

I am sorry you got scammed. Do stop all communication with the scammer.

I'm sorry you were scammed, by this jerk, but glad you realized before you sent any money.

He and his "son" are simply the same scammer playing both roles. I would not worry about him showing up at your doorstep. He is almost certainly in Africa or Malaysia and will almost certainly never be in the country, let alone in your area.

While this type of scammer may make physical threats, he essentially is a coward. He hides behind fake identities and completely false information. He does not put his neck out, or take risks that could expose him. Actually paying a visit to you would expose him and put him at much greater use of prosecution. It's a risk he is not going to take.

Posting the email address of the "son" would help, and it would also help others if you can post some of the emails he sent to you, under the fake soldier name and the "son's" name. Scammers often use the same letters, even after they change names, and having those letters posted can help someone else to identify a scammer later. Just remove any specific personal information about yourself, if there is any (though often when you review the emails, you discover that there is actually very little personal information).

Also, if your user name is your real name, i would strongly encourage changing it. Just give me a new username and I can do that for you.
