I think this happened to me. I was on a Skout app. Started communicating with a guy whose profile said he was 25 and in wichita kansas. he asked to exchange phone numbers. He sent me a text stating he was from the app. we had a conversation for a while. He sent an explicit pic. The next day he messaged me again. . . asked if I could send him one. Not thinking anything of it, I did. Roughly 3.5 hours later, i missed a phone call from "him." So I replied stating I couldnt talk at the moment. 10 minutes later I received a message from the phone number telling me it was the father, Mike, calling me by my full name name (I had never given my full name out to anyone) saying he needed to get to the bottom of the situation wanting to know why I was sending explicit pics to his 15 year old son. I had managed to get a screen shot of the profile before it was deleted and sent it to the caller explaining I was not talking to a 15 year old, but to this person and didn't know what in the world he was talking about. The caller stated he had spoken with a buddy of his in the police department and convinced him to hold off on pressing charges so he could get to the bottom of this. The supposed father stated he would need to speak with his wife on whether she wished to pursue charges and would call me back. A few minutes later, the man had called me back stating his wife agreed to look past this incident so long as i replaced the work computer the "son" was caught using, I agreed and the man told me the cost of the lap top was 1400, but since his son was at fault he would pay half if I would pay the other half. I agreed but explained I didn't have 700, only had a partial payment. The man agreed to take the partial payment so long as I sent the remaining balance the following Friday. Stupidly I agreed and sent what I could. The next day I ran across this thread and reading through the first post and the rest on the following pages it all sounded exactly like what had happened to me. Still scared for obvious reasons, I wanted to confirm this was actually a blackmail scam. I deactivated all my social media accounts, and blocked the two numbers I received calls from because the man with a heaving sounded accent tried calling me back and texting when I didn't send the remaining balance. He was threatening to go to his police buddy if he did not receive the balance due by that day. My number has been changed now. Stupid me did not realize the numbers texting me were not Kansas numbers but were from South Carolina (the "sons" numbers was 864-378-1804 and the "fathers" number was 843-359-0251).
