Hello cjr64, as difficult as it is to believe that you have been corresponding with a scammer, you have been.

If you did not know this person before they contacted you, you have been scammed. I am sorry to say that to you. This "person" will not be using your money to take leave. They will be using it to scam other people.

The best thing you can do is walk away. Don't respond any further to this person. I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your experience here. Hopefully your account will help others who might get caught by this kind of scam.

Dear Get Smarter,

OMG!!! When I read your reply to Worried, I was shocked.. I was talking to the same guy except he was a Ssg. and he goes by Chris lecain. Same story about the wife and kid, told me he was Iraq til June. Lived in NY. It makes me wonder how many other names he has gone under. He to gave me both emails. He definitely is a sweet talker and tells you what you want to hear. I do never sent him any money or did the phone thing. He has no idea that I know he is a scammer, so I'm having fun with him...Giving him a dose of his own medicine.

I'm so glad that I found this site...Beware all ladies....He's good, real good..

good luck to all..

Welcome here justintime66.

I'm glad you didn't get scammed out of your money. What you're doing now with this scammer is what we call 'scambaiting' . It is something we don't encourage here when the scammer probably has your details, including your home address. Best thing to do is to drop him, and simply stop writing to him.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

As you suspect, it is a scammer.
"i want you to mail my commander tomorrow requesting how soon i can be allowed to come home or get a leave" leaves no possible doubt.

Welcome here Kataxa.

The only thing you need to do is to stop all communication with this scammer. Don't waste any more time on him, as he will drop you as soon as he knows he can't get any money out of you.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

does it mean we can't do anything about it?...
There could be another woman and she might give him money...
What a world
Thank you for all your answers

If you have not lost any money, then what have already posted here is exactly the only thing you you can do... make people aware of the names, email address and phone numbers used by the criminal. (Pictures are irrelevant because they will be of innocent people).

If you have lost money you will not get it back and as you do not have real details of the scammer, and you won't get police action either. Fact is that because he is in a foreign country (ie: West Africa, as this type of scam is typically Nigerian), you would have to loose many thousands of Dollars to even get a sniff of any action... and that too would pure luck.

Victims should report to http://www.ic3.gov/ or an appropriate anti-fraud entity within their own borders (if one exists).

Unfortunately this is a guarantee, but there is nothing you can do about it directly.

The information you have posted will help someone out of a jam, just as you found the information posted before you. :D

Hello Kataxa, as Mac said above you have done well to post the scammer's information here. The name they use, the email address they use and the script they use. This is one of the frustrating things about scammers. They keep on scamming.

If you do read around our forum, you will see that posting this kind of information does help some. Please stay around and post up scams that you come across.

You can also warn people you know about scams in person. Learn what they look like and let others know. If you know the parable of the starfish, you understand what we do here.

I had to mail to [email protected]

then this morning I got a file, it is like a contract with 10 rules

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/t ... directlink

His name is Keith Engle, he says he is in Afganistan. I already found it strange a military could have MSN.

Also my computer has a malfunction on firefox, but not IE, I dont know if he has anything to do with it.

He sent me an email to my gmail account, maby we can track the IP, but I dont know how to do that.

Keep each other posted!!!

Yes I found it as well, However there are other IP's from different emails that he has sent whichx-orginated from the USA - Even more confusing. But agreed that I almost got scammed. Only lost a lot of time & energy.

Thank you everyone,

Hi there,

I'm from the Netherlands and always very suspicious about internet dating.. Thru a social site i met a guy, he told me he was a millitair stationed in Iraq. Within 2 days he said he'd loved me and wanted to marry me.. I played the game and I got a leave request.. (well.. it was a word document converted into pdf format thru the site: Mod Note: this was a link to a pdf converter site. We don't need the link. ~Bubbles. He had loads of pictures of a soldier in combat.. looked all internet for the name and pictures but couldn't find what I was searching for.. found this site thou.. so... I told him and got him the link to this site and to a intervieuw on youtube from the BBC about army scammers.. he was gone in a split second!

Welcome to ScamWarners BabyBear and Sandramhd. Thank you for posting here.

BabyBear, if you want to trace his email IP, PM me and I will walk you through it. It is great that you didn't get scammed out of money.

Sandramhd, you did great research. Do you have the email address this criminal wrote from? Also if you have any emails from him, that too is helpful for others to find as you did. Typically we do not point scammers to this site. I am glad that you got rid of the scammer before he took money from you.

I too have received paperwork from the Lt. Gonzales. Same scam and I have another supposed soldier from the UK that keeps bothering me insisting on sending me a check to cash for him. Told him to leave me alone and not send anything and he did. So now I have to figure out who to go to with this scam postal money order sent fedex. Or do I simply rip it up.
