I agree with Justin lovelycatipillar, that is a scammer. They always get indignant when asked for more photos because they do not have more photos.

If he were not a scammer he could use the camera on the phone to take a photo instantly and send it to you. He will not do that because he looks nothing like the photos he has sent you.

You are correct, real soldiers have much more to do than to spend time on the computer IMing people they do not know.

Don't tell him you know he is a scammer. Don't tell him about us, just stop all communication with him. Block his email address, Block his IM and don't take any phone calls from him. All he wants from you is MONEY. He is not looking for a friend and he will not be traveling to see his mother for Christmas. Everything he says is a lie.

Actually he is still online and I am just laughing to myself because he is so so so so free to message me. But I am not relpying anymore. The last thing I told him was to message me, once he is in the states with his mom and I will do a webcam with u so I could see u. Still the old things he said be patient

My YM was able to save of our conversations because I normally dont save conversation or message archived so I only activated it 2 days ago and this was the 3 day i spoke to him...

Just a point to mention. We have seen romance scammers fake a webchat. Usually they act like there is a problem with the sound. It's just a video typically of a soldier they have stollen off the Internet.

Big warning signs to look for is the "too good to be true" feeling. Not to offend anyone but if your an average looking person your probably not going to meet a handsome soldier who is widowed on the internet.
The person falling in love very quickly is also another dead giveaway. Constant problems that result in the need for money to be sent should be a huge red flag.

Google is your freind search bits of the persons email that strike you as odd. These scammers are pretty lazy and typically share the same initial emails.

I ask your help in identifying whether this person is real. He contacted me through a dating site, (connecting singles), he says he is a Sergeant, an engineer in the army currently deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan. We have chatted via yahoo, his email address is [email protected]
He has not asked for money as of yet, but he did ask something weird about wanting to make an ivestment as he said some finance company visitted them in the base in Afghanistan and so according to him the Chase bank in the US blocks all the accounts of deployed officers. He asked that if I wanted to help him handle this investment and that he would wire some money to me, or something like that I didn´t quite understand. I actually freaked out and told him I wasn´t gonna give him any financial information from me and accused him of being a scammer... ever since he kind of backed off and never asked me anything like that but continue to talk to me via yahoo.
I want your help in identifying if he is actually in afghanistan, and if he is actually in the army or is just a scammer. He has also said some weird stuff like not being able to send photos, only one photo he posted in the dating site, he says army doesn´t let him use skype nor make phone calls... only yahoo chat...

He says his name is Michael Greenwood. He says his middle name is Steve but I haven´t found him in white pages either. He said previous to being deployed to AFghanistan he lived in Miami where he owns a house or appartment and he was borned in New York City, and was raised there.
