Welcome to ScamWarners itsme77. You pose an interesting question. On one hand there is nothing illegal about pretending to be someone you are not. Unless you have claimed another person's identity. There is nothing wrong with asking someone you barely know for money. There is nothing wrong with making promises you don't intend to keep.

However, on the other hand there is a lot wrong with doing any of those activities. They are morally wrong. Some times they are actually illegal.

Scammers have no conscience. They want money and will say what ever it takes to get it from their victims. They hide behind fake email addresses and other people's photos. They are rarely in the country they claim to be in. This makes enforcing any laws difficult because not all countries have the same laws. Getting international cooperation usually involves very large crimes like murder and terrorism.

We have found that exposing scammers and their tactics is the best thing to do. Educating victims or potential victims. Supporting victims as they release themselves from the hold scammers have on them. Please let us know if we can help you or your cousin.
