But would you say best bet is just to not contact them at all keep blocking the numbers and let it settle.

You've been given advice, it is up to you whether you chose to accept it or not.

ETA: From the first post in this thread (and other threads):

Recommended Actions:

It is best to stop all contact with the scammers. Ignore his calls and messages.

Ignore all demands for money. If you pay the scammer he will continue to blackmail you. You will only stop paying when you go broke or realize you are being scammed.

Deactivate your Facebook account for two weeks. Change your photo or avatar when you reactivate it or get a new one. Also change your user name. Do not accept requests from anyone you have never met.

Do the above for all social media and Skype.

You may have to change your phone numbers.

File a report with your local law enforcement agency and to one of the following below if possible.

USA: IC3 - http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
Canada: Anti Fraud Center - http://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifr ... index.shtm
UK: Action Fraud - http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

+18642000743 is the number that tried to scam me. Names were Michael and Sarah bradley. A complaint has been filed and hopefully stops them.

Thank you for posting and making a complaint . If you could give more details of the SCAM Story Line that would help others recognize it as a scam .

I too had this issue. Met a girl on POF said she was 19 when we started talking and asked for some dirty pictures so I sent one and she sent some back. Caught one with a watermark on it and called her on it. She said she takes them for a website and they pay her. She then tells me she's actually 16 but to not tell the authorities that she takes those pics for the website. We don't talk sexual afterwards and she doesn't seem to have much to say the next couple days just that she's busy and that she's flying back to South Carolina to take care of some things since she recently moved from there to close to where I live. The number she uses is the right area code for where I lived. Name on kik is ashley l. after not hearing from her for a full day I get a call from a South Carolina number 3 times in like 5 minutes. I don't answer but look up the number and it's the number of the Hook, County police department. No message was left and I called the number back and it sent me to the police department recording saying that they are not opened. I call back the next morning and they tell me a scam has been going around.

Just talked to a guy. He is using the name of an on duty office and the phone number of the police department. He said that I need to talk to the girls father. I told him no and asked for his badge number and he got really defensive. I called the dispatch and they said they would tell him to call me back and it would be on a blocked number but it was on the police department number when he called back so I'm still a little worried.

In some cases the scammer has contacted victim pretending to be Law Enforcement, possibly going as far as to spoof the number of a real local Law Enforcement department to make it appear that they are calling.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

Look the police department phone number up online . Call them directly . The scammers are probably spoofing the number .

You just answered your own question . Review these facts:

Met a girl on POF said she was 19

Terms of Service of POF are no one under age 18 is allowed .

she sent some back. Caught one with a watermark on it and called her on it

she takes them for a website and they pay her

These are stolen photographs .

She then tells me she's actually 16 but to not tell the authorities that she takes those pics for the website

Its part of the Scam and par for the course .

I get a call from a South Carolina number 3 times in like 5 minutes. I don't answer but look up the number and it's the number of the Hook, County police department.

This also is par for the course . They work on Fear and Intimidation .

Just talked to a guy. He is using the name of an on duty office and the phone number of the police department. He said that I need to talk to the girls father. I told him no and asked for his badge number and he got really defensive.

Because he is a fake . Probably some ugly hairy mugu sitting in a Lagos , Nigeria , Cyber Cafe

I called the dispatch and they said they would tell him to call me back and it would be on a blocked number but it was on the police department number when he called back so I'm still a little worried.

When you called they don't know who you are . File a report HERE :

Thanks for the information guys. Blocked the police departments number and didn't get a call Friday or today. Hoping they have moved on from me since I mentioned I believed it was a scam when he asked me to talk to the father and that I had already contacted the police department that he was calling from and they mentioned that it was probably a scam. Good thing is lessons have been learned from me and I'm sure many of the other guys on here.

Forgot that I looked up her phone number when I still had it (deleted it a couple days ago) so it was saved in my search history. The number she texted from is 8126101023. Area code is from a city nearby me. Girl's name is Ashley Smith I believe the "detective" said. Number "detective" called from is 8439155350 number of the Horry County PD. Don't have any pictures of the girl (she sent one with clothes on) but she had blonde hair and glasses in some, room was a mess, and had lots of ballet shoes hanging on wall. Hopefully this information helps anyone who has had the same situation as me.
