Information on romance scams and scammers.

However, I was asked to write to a Lt General to grant permission for this person to come for a visit.

This guarantees that it is a scam.

There is NO situation in which you would be asked (or even allowed) to request leave for a real soldier, period. The only place this policy exists is in the imaginary scammer world. The scammer may claim that it is a new policy, or it is because of abuse, or some other story. That is not, and will never be the case, because it is actually against the basic premise behind the way the US military is structured. In the real world, soldiers have internal forms that they fill out, within the army, to request their own leave. They do not pay for leave, and they only get it if they have earned it. Who they plan to see while on leave is completely irrelevant. The person they are visiting does not fill out or sign anything at all.

Sure is a scam. Generals don't arrange leaves . PLEASE PUBLSH EMAILS WITH HEADERS. You are not allowed to ask for leave for a soldier. You will be asked to send money via Western Union and sent a load of fake documents. Send nothing and get away from this scammer. Don't tell it what you know and how you know, as we like scammers to be as ignorant and uneducated as they were when they started scamming.

Bewildered I am sorry but he is scamming you. I know it is awful and makes you ask so many questions but I called the army and marines, a person cannot just request for leave for someone. It is truly sad when I see and read how many people are being scammed. There should be a way to end it completely but sadly there isn't.
If you put mail2army.com in Google you will see anyone can make a domain.

Welcome to ScamWarners africara. I am sorry to tell you that you are dealing with a scammer or two. This is how the typical military scammer works. Part romance scammer and part patriotic / gratitude.

Just stop communicating with these two characters. All they want is for you to send them money. There is no relationship for you. Yes, they are good at what they do, very convincing and yet is is all a LIE designed to take your money from you.

Stop all contact with them!

Twice this army fella I've been writing to sent me an email address to send a request for his visit + an email address to a Lt. General. Here are the transit mail addresses:

[email protected]
[email protected]

Both times I sent an email to the above email addresses the email came back as undeliverable due to no such email address exists.

The following is the most recent email from the fella when I mentioned how it doesn't make sense that I need to request a leave for him. Much like if I requested him to request paid time off for me from my job. (I sent my email with the above after I found out about what scammers do to impersonate the military to get gain.)

Hello dear,
You made a mistake about the address that came back to you as it is [email protected]...well you can resend it to this address or just in case the gen does not get the one you sent to him..
I saw all what you wrote below about the request and you thinking you are not suppose to request and i am the one that is suppose to request myself well over here that the rules and that's the protocol ,i don't know anything different ..I wish i could apply for a break and just leave land come to stay with you ,but that what i was told from the defense transit department when i asked ,i am not at the department and i don't ahve people requesting for me ,neither have i been doing this before i am sure this is my very first time. (Mind you he told me he went home to California last Christmas to visit with his daughter.) I think what we need to pray for is that they do look upon your request and reply you coz its up to the general as he might choose to deny the request or do otherwise.
hey let me know when you have sent the request to the new address i sent you.

I'm still reeling in shock that I fell prey to this scam. When I so thought I may've found the one... The vulnerablility of this woman. This army fella found me on one of my church single sites. Go figure.

Your emails bounced because someone had reported them as fraudulent and the email provider shut them down, this happens all the time to scammers. However, we prefer those email accounts to stay alive so the information posted at ScamWarners will not become useless. :)

Please drop this criminal now. Don't discuss his lies with him, this would help him to be better prepared with his next victim. And don't tell him you published his details here. Just leave him confused and frustrated.

By the way, a lot of scammers pretend to be religious and go hunting for victims on church sites. They hope this will make the scam more plausible.

By the way, a lot of scammers pretend to be religious and go hunting for victims on church sites. They hope this will make the scam more plausible.
This is so very true. Because I met the so called military man on one of my church single sites.

For the protection of the innocent the so called military man I've been writing to name is: Sean Philips. The email address of the ficticious military man I've been writing to is: [email protected] IP address: [98.138.91.71]

Here's the response from the Lt. General regarding my request for leave for Capt Sean Philips. Definitely a scam from all I've read here on Scamwarners.

Please note that you cannot request the officer of US army for more than 2 months and the prices recommendation for each (TCA)will be relayed to you as soon as you are ready to further proceed but the lowest charges is 900usd.Furthermore, most times transit are granted based on the request of a spouse, which further implies that all bills will be footed by the spouse or the person requesting for such Transit of an officer. This bill is just a sum to guarantee that, the officer will actually be going to the predetermine destination that sum will be used to arrange logistics such as flight ticket and likes. And the officer will be made to execute certain document immediately he gets home. Instructing the military authorities to pay from his entitlement the sum used as guarantee earlier to the spouse or to whom footed the bills in the first instance.

Thank you for his email address; it must be a new one because it does not give any Google hits. So it's really valuable for future targets.

Hello
I have a new scammername related to this topic. He use the name Brandon Bennett, he contacted me at Badoo,He sent me photos on my email, so I can easy find the IP.I was :chatting with him twice, the second time he asked me clearly if I wanted to request a leave for him from Afghanistan.Pretty fast, no time for loveletters either , so this one is an amateuer I think. scammeradress : [email protected] He sent me pictures in my mailbox the first evening I chat with him.
I have been there before , with : [email protected] , so I knew .The mails from the first one is here under his name, but he used 2,5 months to get to the same stage as this one . And I was totally lost after that
I have not been writing my story here, I am still grieving even if its 14 days since I discovered the truth about the first one . And they are coming out of the woodwork .How can we stop it ?

Hello Spindel2,
I'm really sorry that you are still hurting from this ugly experience. It will take time to recover, I hope you have friends who can support you in this difficult time.

Unfortunately, there is no way to actually stop them. We can just slow them down by publishing their details and educate the public about internet scams.

It can make a difference if you talk to others about these scams, you never know who might be the next target.

Hi
Yes I talk, I have some friends now from the RS group, dont know what I would do without them .They are just wonderful .I have been telling my story to a news Channel here, and a girl I know, who lost a lot of money, was on Tv tonight, telling her story about the same guy that scammed me.That was brave of her.
She set up a site on Facebook too of him .Thanks to my emails I sent to the site here ,she found out who he was. So yes, it helps to talk to people and spread info. But its a big loss, all your dreams, hopes and love ..gone in a second, and where ?? The scammers steal the most valuable you have, your heart, and then they wants your money ..

This is so very true! I'm just so sad too. It's hard to lose something I never had. The guy still trys to get in touch with me saying not to worry about the transit request, he'll try on his own to get some R & R and come at the end of the year. Right?

I was to go to my church singles conference today which is 2 1/2 hours away. I went for the shrimp boil at the beach. Then there was a 3 hour lull of time before the next activity. I wasn't feeling it due to my present heartache over this scam. That all I could think of was how I could be home before the 3 hours are up. So I came home. I just couldn't wait 3 hours in the heat of Summer at the beach. I'm sad I couldn't wait and am now missing the dinner and the dance. However I'm still reeling from this crazy experience. I'm mourning the lose of a love that never was and never will be. The guy got me going so emotionally that I was looking at engagement rings online.

This year I've had someone fraudulently file my tax return, gain access into my online bank account and fradulently take money from my bank account. However, this emotional scam is far reaching to my very core to the heart of my being. It's hard to shake...

Africara,
Have you blocked him from your email and chat? I think you will get past this faster if you do that and he can't contact you anymore. This low life does not deserve any of your attention.
by africara Sun Sep 04, 2011 8:54 am
I couldn't block him fast enough from yahoo messenger, from my yahoo account and from the singles site we met on in the first place. Before he was able to send me a good luck message on the singles site we met on wishing me good luck in my search since I found his recent emails of no worth to reply to. At least now it'll be over.

While we were writing to each other he took his profile off the singles site we met on. Whereas as of Friday he has his profile back on the singles website. When I saw that he put a new profile on the singles site I immediately wrote to the administrator of the site. Here's the email I wrote (I'm still waiting for a reply):

Please Beware of Scam Artist in your mist

To whom it may concern:

I'm … with the handle of … on LDSdates.com. Please be aware that
youandi4life is a scammer who impersonates an enlisted military army captain. He first contacted me on 7/27/11. For the past month we've been writing to each other. He supposedly is stationed in Iraq. Our communication got to the point where we wanted to meet in person. He's involved in an elaborate scam artist scheme. This is where once an emotional attachment occurs he states how I could request his leave to come see me. He provided an email address to a Lt. General who I'd request a leave for him from. I did do as such. I received a reply with a request for at least $900.00 to $2500.00 to pay for his transit to the US. Of course I didn't pay.

I got doing research as to the US Army protocol for an enlisted person to request leave. The protocol definitely doesn't include another person requesting leave for the person. Only the person in the military can request their own leave not a wife, girlfriend or family member. Nor is payment involved for this leave. The Army treats their soldiers very well. The military pays for the airfare home for leave. Hence there shouldn't be any fee paid by another person or a need for a person such as myself to request a leave for a military person.

Please beware of the nature of youandi4life scam so that no other woman falls prey to his insidious tactics.

Please respond as to the receipt of this email and what you plan to do regarding youandi4life.

Thank you in advance for your reply!

Sincerely…

This has been one crazy making experience with fraud/scam written all over it (now in hind sight). First he requested me to put in for his leave through the Lt General and I did. Then when I mentioned how an outside person can't request a military leave for an enlisted person, just like he can't request a paid time off leave for me from my work, he said this is protocol where he's at. Then in the last email from him yesterday he stated how he was told to not bother me with the stress of requesting his leave, he'll put in for his own leave. The guy can't make up his mind.
