Scammers are also unaware of reality in the world. They don't know soldiers or what they do and where.
Very often they will say "peace keeping" when in fact it is fighting between them and other side, eg. Vietnam, Afghanistan.
Here is the current deployment to Kuwait.
“The mission of Kuwait at the beginning, it was a staging area, a [reception, staging, onward movement and integration] station,” the official said. “Now it’s a platform, a final destination, so to speak, for contingency forces that can be used in the [Central Command] theater.”
As of Jan. 5, soldiers from 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, of Fort Hood, Texas, and 1st BCT, 34th Infantry Division, of the Minnesota National Guard were the two primary brigade-sized units deployed to Kuwait. In addition, the 29th Combat Aviation Brigade from the Maryland National Guard also is in Kuwait, moving there after serving as the last CAB in Iraq.
The 1st Cavalry Division brigade moved to Kuwait after serving the first half of its tour in Iraq and will remain in Kuwait until it completes a 12-month deployment this summer.
I expect they quote being in Kuwait for "peace keeping".
Similarly in Iraq "peace keeping". I'll use the phrase "like Scotch mist" here to avoid too much education.
The only unit in Iraq now is the L1 AR Brigade who usually arrive after everyone else has gone.
Real soldiers are not spending time on Internet talking to you. After being up all night on patrols they sleep.
They will be back on duty in 8 hours or less, with SPOTLESSLY CLEAN WEAPONS and uniform. If they have used big weapons they will muck in and clean them too. They may snatch 10 minutes internet time or phone time talking to Mum or Dad, but not talking to you for hours on IM.
In a 12 hour Ops room shift in HQ I could either have a boring time, or find myself driving down a bullet ridden street with Un-Intelligence Ofificer who wants to have a "closer look at things". But as sure as hell I would be on duty 8 hours later. Not to say that we never had a whole lot of fun off duty, but soldiers spend it with each other because that's how it is, and they are the ones who will get
you out of a mess.
