Blackmail Scams - Sextortion Scams

I reported to that website twice and once to another site. She even recently made a Facebook and proceeded to request and message all my friends, friends of friends, and family. She says her real name is Pauline Garcia. Her Facebook was under the name Molly Slater. She was reported and deleted. I'm worried this person will continue to completely humiliate me by harrasing everyone I know since I blocked her from everything. I hope these forms that I filled out help as much as they say

Well we hope so too . You did right reporting it and you can always come back here . You should probably set up Google alerts on any of your info they have .

I did that for mine as well as the information I had on then. I'm just hoping this harassment of my friends and family isn't an every day occurrence now

I had a similar experience this past week. I had someone Plenty of Fish "view" me, and I decided after looking at his profile he seemed legit and attractive so I messaged him. His age stated 25. His username was "SexySamuel" and we chatted for maybe 5 minutes before he gave me his number. Foolishly I texted him. His number was from South Carolina. We exchanged a few texts back and forth and him confirming that he was 25 in the texts, then all the sudden he texts me two nude pictures and tells me to not think differently of him, or judge him. I was surprised, but being my age got excited and agreed to send him some of mine. After he sent the nudes, his profile completely disappeared. I figured maybe he just got off because he was talking with me (should have been a red flag.) He said some things that he wanted to do to me, and I haven't heard from him since. That was on Wednesday this last week. Out of the blue I get a call from a numbr I didn't recognize. It was in a similar area code as my phone number. I didn't answer, thinking if it was important they would leave a message. No message was left. This number was the number to the county jail. About exactly 20 minutes later I get absolutely spammed with crap saying how disgusting and perverted it was to be sending nude pictures to his son, who is supposedly 15, going to be 16 in a few months. At this point I felt panicked and disgusted. I would never do that kind of stuff. But after he spams me saying he's "Lt. John Sanchez and used to b a deputy for many years, and that his wife was a dispatch at the local sherif office and that I didn't know who I was messing with" he starts spamming with someone else's nude pictures randomly, and google searched of harsh sentences to prison. He said my name was J. Carrillo, which it isn't. Then he says "oops I was thinking of my nephew, you name is blah blah blah ( he knew my full middle name too) and also that I was related to my mom and dad, he knew their names too. He said that his wife might know my parents, so that's why I wasn't locked up yet. Meanwhile I am trying to explain to him his profile said he was 25 and I had no idea, he wouldn't listen. He then said "my son is now in Juvenile Detention because he hurt my wife after finding the nude pictures, but me and my wife want to ask your help to deactivate his phone that is in his wife's name and they wouldn't put me in jail." At this point I agreed to anything until he sent me a picture a Walmart MoneyCard and asked to put the 350 dollar early termination fee on it to deactivate the phone. I called the number that called me first (the county jail) and they told me they had never called me. At this point I am suspicious and 80% sure this is a spam and his guy is spoofing numbers. I stop communication and contact my local police to report it. I got one more text yesterday before changing my number. He said he was going to my job to get me fired. Would he really be able to do that?

The scammer would never go to your job. He would show his face and risk the chance of being arrested for blackmail scam.

Thank you Byron! At this point I am 99.9% sure of the scam. I have deactivated my Facebook profile for the time being and also changed my phone number. This site has really helped me. This really put some fear into me being the anxious type. I'm just glad I didn't follow through with the payment or anything and cleared my head before doing so. I will report it to that site as well.

Whoops I misspelled your name sorry. But you're right, just that .1% feels so real. Bad thing about all of it is they are definitely spoofing numbers, so it's near impossible to trace I've heard.

Okay guys need your help.... I want to make sure I did the right thing. I messaged this girl off POF, her profile says she's 18. Very cute. Tons of pics so didn't look fake to me initially. Anyhow, after a few messages back and forth she gets a lil sexual.... which i found pretty forward for someone so young(first red flag) but I keep chatting and she says she might delete her profile because all the guys on pof are so disrespectful and asks that we talk through text. I agree and we start a text convo...

First chat she asks me if I am going to the gym and I should send her a pic of all my sweaty muscles. I thought she was just being flirty so I don't do it just keep teasing her. Next day I text her randomly and she gets sexual through text again saying she want's to know "what I'm packing" I STUPIDLY decide to fall for it and send her a pic of my junk. She tells me it looks great and I should send her more pics. I don't but send her some G-rated ones of myself. She then says we should talk later. I call her that night but she doesn't pick up.

Next day I get a call from her phone and I don't pick up because it's during my lunch. Next thing you know I get a text from her number saying,"son this is Mr. Cunningham and I've reported you to local authorities for sending pics to my 15year old daughter. Shame on you, etc" He doesn't ask for money but I freak out immediately and could smell the scam or what I thought was a scam so I block the number and am crossing my fingers that this guy will disappear once he realizes I have him blocked and won't respond to anything.

Am I doing the right thing not responding at all? I deleted my POF and screen captured the girls profile that CLEARLY shows she's 18. And her profile is still active, which I find very strange.... Also I looked up the phone number that called me and its a VOIP phone.(619-760-2512)

I've 100% blocked them. Just makes my blood boil that these disgusting filth are able to make a living by wrecking havok on people's lives. I legit couldn't sleep for few days with anxiety and stress and considered reaching out to a criminal attorney as I had no idea what was going to happen. Thank goodness I decided to google this and see how big of a scam these cockroaches are running.

After reading through these pages I am assuming I was in beginning stages of being scammed. I am not exactly sure which site I was on that started this, however I am on OK cupid, craigslist, and backpage sometimes. I only contact individuals that are over 18. I use a texting app. If i am not using the texting app i delete off my phone so i dont receive texts or phone calls. Last time i was on the app talking to people was 3 weeks ago. This past week i decided to log into my app and there was a voicemail left from a 704#. It was a guy saying that i was texting his 16 yr old son and just turned 16, he used some vulgar language very hard to understand. He sounded like he was an african american male from the south. Quality of call wasn't very good. He then said i could go to jail for a long time and that i should contact him before he contacts the police. By the time i checked the voicemail it was already a little over 2 weeks since it was left. I was very upset knowing i don't engage with anyone under 18 but u start getting paranoid. I found this site and reading through all these pages it appears i was in beginning stages of being scammed. I have not heard anything from this person and assume because i was logged out for so long he moved on to someone else bc he couldn't get in touch with me. A couple days ago i did try and call from another number to see who picked. I tried a few times and it wrang a few times and went to voicemail. The number called me back a couple times I didn't pick up and a voicemail was left with no talking, just silence. I looked the number up and it appears to be a reuasable number. I also saw that similar scams were using that area code recently. The number had some escort sites associated with it, one of which said that number posted on backpage over a year back as 19 yr old girl. It also appeared to be associated with a company known to provide scammers woth voip. Can you tell me if this is a scam? Number is: 704-470-7952

Thanks! Are u certain of scam? Been losing sleep. Messed up how scammers can really get in your head. All signs pointed that way of a scam. Assuming they moved on because of my non response. Very scummy.
