When I started the whole online dating in February, I never knew about romance scammers. Then it seemed that everyone I meet online was nothing but a scammer. I was asking myself do I have sucker written all over my face or something. I finally gave up, and then like the old saying goes it will come at you from out of the blue. And he did. He even joked on our first date that I could tell my friends and family he was a real person, he had his share of scammers too. But I keep running into scammers even on facebook & tagged. So I have gotten to the point where if they want to play, then fine. This is one of the last scammers I meet on match.com before I cancelled my subscription. This is his email to me on 05/15/10.

My mom is a Hispanic American born. The ip address 172.190.74.36 was routed through AOL.com and the time stamp didn't match.







Before I learned of this site I used, well I still do, spokeo.com, the picture that popped up didn't match. I found him on tagged.com and the profile and pictures where not the same. So I busted him and he never responded back.

Tracked this criminal back to a Tagged profile. Photo downloaded back to here. Profile decorated by our warner group and reported to Tagged for removal.

Tagged profile was deleted within 20 seconds of my report to them. I hit the profile picture button immediately and got account cancelled message. I only needed to post the email address and link to scamwarners to get this result.

Please note that in many cases having a scammers dating profile closed can be counter productive, while i understand that many wouldn't share this view initially, it really does very little harm to a scammer.

Scammers generally have 10 or more dating profiles set up at any one time, they may be a mix of male and female profiles and can have a variety of fake names, losing one of those profiles means they will simply copy and paste the details for another profile often changing the details to some extent when they do.

By having different details that sites like scamwarners are not aware of, anybody who does some searches will not have the advantage of information being posted for them to find and valuable evidence that could prove a scammer will be lost.

Its a fine line sometimes to what is the best thing to do in different situations and we dont always agree on teh best course of action, all the same, it is good to understand that whateveer actions you take when dealing with scammers, there can be many positive and negative things to consider before reacting

Yes indeed it is a difficult call to make. However some scammers are functioning to a level that makes them dangerous on the site(s). Warnings are often ignored, and a back up team merely over posts them. A scammer can monitor profile comments without logging on. They can then run comments from undetectable false profiles that are logged on. Tagged also have a reporting activity system so the criminal doesn't even have to go into a profile mailbox to see what response comes back and who sent it. This inevitably delivers yet another potential victim. I have some search parameters on Tagged that expose scammers fake profile investments. Often called "sleepers", I regard them as being wide awake and so we add warnings to those too. Unfortunately we are dealing with something like 4 million false profiles. We have only about 60 scam hunters on Tagged and we all face profile deletions for reporting scammers and publishing warnings. We all aim to have high visibility, and we get asked to run profile checks and look at mails if people are worried.
More difficult is that scammers are targeting Thailand and South America, perhaps to hide language problems. Also it seems as if the use of the +447xxx number has gained momentum. There are some good trends in that we now have some very good scam hunters from both countries.
Let me assure anyone who reads this post, that I do my best to ensure that the best information available is embedded here, and it is up to date,regardless of the continued existence of a profile found elsewhere.

I request that you reconsider for the following reasons.

This main function of this forum is to alert/warn/educate and support victims of scammers.

A major part of the "healing" process for many former victims is to supply/provide a great deal of the evidence in these reports posted at Scamwarners. Their desire is to help by alerting and saving others from being scammed.

One possible consequence of reporting and closing a scammer profile at a dating site is that the scammer will then alter the very details that could alert and warn others.

Another thing that should be considered is the possibility of those "altered details" causing a set back to an ongoing law enforcement investigation.

Hello my Sweetone,

I just got my contract papers in the mailbox. I am excited that I got the contract but I am sad as well because this means I have to leave to for London tomorrow morning. I was hoping we could meet before I got the papers but it has come in already and I have to honor the contract in regards to my work. I have to go to London to make orders for the mass towers and head to my first destination to mount them. I have to mount the towers in a new country that the telecommunication company will be operating in early next year.

I have to set up their systems and run a test phase to make sure everything will run smoothly when they start operating. I will be in London for a week. I have to order the tower and all its disc's and fiber optics before leaving to start work on the towers. I have to go out in a little while to get a few things that I will need for my trip. I hope we can chat for a long while before I leave for my trip tomorrow.I really wish this didn't come in now.

I was planning to surprise you this weekend with a romantic weekend. I want you to know that I will give you a romantic weekend treat as soon as I am done with my work.Do you remember i told you about retiring after this Contract?..Well, I mean it and I have a strong feeling we are going to be together as a family in no time because in God we trust and I'm truly grateful for bringing us this far.

Please post the email address the messages are coming from to you. That is a handle we can have on scammers.

Your post just shows that closing accounts doesn't make scammers go away.
