romance scam u.s soldier

Please advise if this is a scam--
Hi I received contact via a dating site "Friends at Yours .com) I am based in UK & his profile said he was 50 divorced for 1 year following 10 yrs of marriage. His base was Leicestershire.
Then when I replied he said he was U.S soldier in Afghanistan with U.s Army Special Forces Troop. He is a captain & radar specialist.
When Iasked why Leicestershire- he said he was born there when his parents where here on business.He sent me an email in which he said his name was Calvin Ben, born 21.1.1960.Attended Keller Elementary School in Colorado Springs & then to Everest College, then on to Colorado Technical University where he got a BSc Degree in Engineering.He worked for his fathers company but then was interested in the military, he loves his country wants to protect its integrity & security. His parents died when he was 24. He joined the military and is posted to Fort Lewis Barracks in Washington until deployed to the war zone.He then said he married his ex 20 yrs ago- no children- but then noticed a change in her behaviour.He later told me in on line chat that he caught her sleeping with a friend of his. Divorced 6 years ago & sold the house.He has inudated me with poems-from on line sites but also emails every day- even when i was away for a week- all waiting for my return.
He asked if I could get him a blackberry phone & i joked "what on my salary".Since my return from my holiday he has mentioned this a few times , i said it would cost £80 a month for me to get 2 contract blackberrys for minimum of 18 months.he needs 2 to use 1 connected to radar signal & act as ip provider & the other to phone/text me.If I send £1000 via the u.s agent in the u.k Elaine Bonner -pay to HSBC acct 61482688 sort code 400437, he can use the money to get the phones.When he comes to the uk on leave(no exact date yet)he will give me the money back.Also asked how much I had in bank etc- didnt give him exact amount & said it was all i had. He asked if i would move it all into my current account as well as the £1000 for the phones- i refused & he said it was for the stability of our relationship.He has 25 yrs service & intends to file his retirement papers in Kuwait when he comes on leave.He is planning on settling in the u.k- claims dual passport british/u.s (as born here),has a business advisor in the u.k looking at business premises in Kent,& wants to set up private security company & has £350,000 to invest.This money is currently inmilitary bank deposit in America.Claimed he doesnt have access to his salary whilst in Afghanistan & can claim it all when tour ends,on the whole his english & grammar are good- oddthings but i put it down to american expressions /spellings .I have not sent he £1000, checked and it comes up as a valid hsbc account at Muswell Hill branch in London.
I have all the eamils he has sent & poems too- he did say he liked to read poetry & romantic novels.Has said he cant wait to meet me & i am his soul mate,fate brought us together & he loves "talking" to me on line & reading my emails & cant wait for us to be together forever- he never thought he would feel this happy again

Yes, this is a scammer, absolutely no doubt about it. This is a textbook African romance scammer format. I am very glad that you have not lost money to him at this point!

Chances are the real man corresponding with you is a young black African, living in Africa or Malaysia. He is scamming multiple women at the same time, possibly under the same name, maybe under different names, but he is likely using some of the same scripts--so posting the emails he has sent you (remove your personal info) will help to prevent others being scammed.

The bank account he gave you might belong to his accomplice, but it is equally likely it belongs to someone else he is scamming--it is very common for these scammers to use victims' bank accounts in their scams.

Please drop all contact with this scammer. Do not point out any mistakes, as it will only help to educate him. We will be happy to help you to sort things out a bit further when you are able to post his scripts too.

He has emailed twice yesterday & once today- i sent 1 email last night saying my computer was having problems & had used daughters to reply to him but coudnt stay online as she had work to do.
He had even sent messages to my hotmail account- saying how much he missed me.
please advise how i post his emails as i dont want others to fall prey to him- might have sent the phone money if he hadnt been so pushy about the other money. Do they normally bombard you with poems as well? Lucky escape I think.

Blackberries have nothing to do with radar.

Soldiers are not allowed their own personal devices to connect to the internet. They're already provided with free connection by the military and it would be recklessly insane for soldiers to have anything that interferes with or receives radars signals.

The minute anyone claiming to be a soldier asks for money or electronics you know that they're imposters. He needs one for himself to do more scamming, and an extra to sell.

It is normal for these scammers to flood you with romantic poetry and constant declarations of their love. When they think (or know) that you suspect them, it is also normal for them to become even more romantic; (temporarily) withdraw their money requests; pretend to be terribly upset or offended that you don't trust them; and even to deny being a scammer in the face of overwhelming evidence. If you review your old messages/chats, you will most likely also find that he often uses terms of endearment such as honey, angel, babe, baby excessively--this is another extremely common romance scammer behavior.

When they realize they aren't going to convince you--some will continue to tell the same lie; others will "confess" to lying about who they are but claim some justification; still others will get mean and may even threaten you. Ignore it all, no matter what they say, and eventually they will go away.

To post the messages--the easiest thing to do is to simply copy and paste them into a reply here. If your name or personal info such as email address are in it, just replace it with x's. If you highlight all of the text of one email and then click "Quote" above, it will put it into one separate quote box for easier reading like this:

Looking at these emails, I see atrocious English in some, and decent English mixed with poor English in a few. This is typical scammer, and I know that the terrible English is his own writing, and the mixed English is probably copied with some editing by the scammer to make it fit his scam.
