IP address 41.220.68.5 is in, Nigeria

He has all the standard signs. His Match ID was "Loveafair", he is the "only child of his parents", he has a daughter, but his wife died of cancer seven years ago; both parents killed in a car accident; tried to get me to call him on 011447045754562 (a re-direct number); he is a civil engineer (who builds houses...lol), and he decided he was in love with me and wanted to marry me on our second chat; and he uses typical African language. This has only been going on for a week, so we haven't gotten to the sudden trip to Africa or the calamity that causes him to need money, yet. It took me a week to get him to email me, and on the second one I was able to trace it to Nigeria.

His email address is [email protected]. His profile states he is a male from Los Angeles, CA, and he's had the account since April 2010.

First email:

Kel

Second email traced to Nigeria:

Hello Sweetheart
I hope your doing well..i so miss hearing your sweet voice...each time i feel like calling you i keep noticing that i don't have your phone number...i guess you have not given that to me because you don't like me nor trust me enough..please please and please i have nothing to do than to call you and hear your voice if you give the number to me...so how was your flight today..i hope your having fun??...or maybe you can tell me how many peoples asses you have bossed today...lol...i miss you so much my darling and am having a hug smile reading this now...i hope you don't get too serious when you read my emails...at lest wear some smile okay...i am always thinking about you my dear...and i miss you so much too...please try to becareful no matter what you do okayu...remember my heart belongs to you and always want to be with you...i will be hoping to hear from you soon again okay..bye for now

Kel

This last one came, because I told him I would have to think about giving him my phone number, and he didn't like that:

It was so beutiful reading from you..can i ask...if its si difficult sending me a common phone number,...then it means i don't men anything to you..i sent you mine..you Never called...i am not happy

Kel

Well, well, well. I too am receiving email from this chap, except he now goes under the name of Kelvin Goldberg and he caught his ife in bed with his best friend on returning from an overseas business trip. He has been alone now for 5 years and his children won't have anything to do with her because of her dishonesty. He wants to come over to NZ and marry me after he has finished his contract in Ghana. He left his home in Maryland two weeks ago and before that his bank account was accessed and $25,000 transferred which left him short in his personal funds. On arriving in Ghana he had to sleep at the airport as his luggage and lap top were stolen. Of course he had to buy a new laptop and a cellphone to be able to keep in contact with me, and that is when the demand came - could I lend him $400 NZ to add to the money he has so he can pay the hotel manager for his bils. He can't talk to me on IM until this bill is paid. You see he overstretched his credit card to pay for the laptop and cellphone. By the way, he also asked for an iPod for his 49th birthday recently. He suffers from headaches and my lack of sending him the money may eventually kill him and is causing him sleepless nights and more headaches. The poetry was beautiful and his declaration of love and his intention to relocate and buy me a house are all very wonderful but really, where do these guys come from. Kiwigran

This is very typical scammer--expressions of "love" alternating with nasty/angry accusations in the same chat. It is also a perfect example of how warped these scammers are--in his twisted logic, you are the bad person and he is the wronged party!

I hope that you are baiting safely, not using any of your real life information--no matter how you look at it, it's never a good idea to hand your real info to a criminal. There's a lot of info about baiting safely
(and effectively) over at our sister site, www.419eater.com If you aren't over there already you might want to check it out.

Thanks Dotti. Yes, I am on "419 eaters". My original contact with him was on my real Match.com profile, but everything he received after that was false information. I now have several "characters" I use to bait.
