I had someone contact me on Facebook, said his name was Chris Davidson. 38, divorced but his ex had since passed away. Said he had one child, named Ryan who is 8 years old, he said the he worked offshore, based in London, but from oaklahoma originally and of course, looking for love.
He hit lots of red flags. I assume it's a scam. I was just wondering if anyone else had contact with him as well?

Welcome to Scamwarners,

You have posted basic information.

Did the wife die of cancer, motor vehicle accident or giving birth?

Is the child at a boarding school or being raised by a nanny?

What red flags did you notice?

From the information that he gave me, the wife died in a car accident I think a few years beforehand. Initally he told me that his son was with his mother in oaklahoma but then said something about boarding school, realised the mistake and changed the subject.
He seemed to think we were dating after a few general conversations and then randomly pulled the 'I love you' card seemingly from nowhere.
He was never able to provide candid photos of himself in the moment. The photos/videos all seemed to have come from Instagram (same size and general editing as Instagram). He was never able to Skype or video chat. But he did say on a number of occasions that we could chat/text on the phone, but I refused to give him my number.
The demands of his 'job' seemed to be unreasonable with lots of restrictions on what he could and couldn't do with his time. He did bring up money a few times and told me he was paid well, but didn't have access to his money. I refused to discuss financial matters with him.
I was unable to find any of his images on image searches.
I reported him and his profile was deleted, and so I do not have access to our conversations as they were deleted and marked as spam.
I do have the photos he sent me saved as I did the image searches, but I'm not exactly tech savvy and I'm not sure how to get them online. This is possibly why I made a good target.

You were in contact with a scammer.

Be on the look out for him to contact you again with a new fake name and pictures.

He will adjust his method of scam this time since he knows of his mistakes and basic information about you.

Please do not accept friends request from people you have never met face to face. Make your FB profile private so this scammer can not contact people on your friends page and scam.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.
