Information on romance scams and scammers.

Hello. I'm a very new one here. I am being really scared and hurt 'cos I don't know if the man who has been talking with me for 5 weeks is a scammer. He contacted with me via Skype, claimed that he is an US soldier currently serving in Afghanistan in peacekeeping mission, a widow man and he is gonna retire this March. He sent me emails with his private information and some of his photos that are very real. After 3 weeks talking to each other, he asked me for help to send an amount of money for his son in Manchester and I did that with a hope and faith that i was trying to help a real man whom i was falling in love with. We usually talk and email to each other with loving words and i truly love him. In addition, he made me totally believe when he called me via webcam and showed me his face. I could see him and his face on webcam and the face in his photos is the same. I also did send him a lot of my photos and some of my private information. 2 weeks ago he said he got a big money from his mission and wanted me to help him keep it until he comes to me in my country. He said that money is known by us two only. That the agent who was carrying that amount to me requested a big money for custom negotiation got me doubt about this man. Now I am really confused for all these things and also so scared. Please help me to find out what's happening behind this story.
Here is the headers of his last email to me, please help me to find out who he is for real.

I'm sorry, but it is a definite scam, and the money that you sent to the "son" is gone, as will be any you send for the non-existent package. Real soldiers do not find large sums of money and need help getting them out of the country.

The best thing to do is block the soldier and the fake courier and do not respond to them any further. Do not accuse them of being scammers, they will just deny it and carry on trying to scam you.

Is [email protected] the fake soldier's email address or the fake courier? Can you please post all the email addresses, phone numbers and any websites that you have been given, along with samples of the mails from the soldier and the courier. The scammer's other victims may be searching for them.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Good morning my Angel, how are you doing today and how was your night?I hope you slept well and i hope the girls are fine too?I am writing you this morning to let you know that i am very sorry for causing you pains and sleepless night, its not my intention and i never planned for that to happen, but i believe that in every relationship or affair, there must be bad, hard and sad and aswell as good moments which we all long for but these terrific times are really the times to stand by each other, support each other, care and love each like never before, this way,i strongly believe that we'll overcome all storms and hurdles coming our way.
I want you to know that i love you still and will continue to love you more, nothing changed and i promise you am gonna be by you and with you always till the end of time.
You have to be strong Angel as this is almost the end of it and i want you to take good care of yourself.I am not angry or disappointed with you at all rather i was sad cause i was afraid of you being apprehended by the police but now you put smile on my face again by giving me hope again.
I must tell you this,I love you more than you imagine and don't wanna see you sad anytime anyday. Please try and secure the luggage and keep it safe for your husby.

Now Im really scared of having given them my name, adress, ID and passport numbers and my passport photo which includes my image on that. To what extent is this thing dangerous to me?

The name "Martins Colony" and the writing style make it obvious that the scammer is an African who has never been in America. Most likely he has no way or inclination to commit identity theft with your information. It is likely, though, that he will reuse your passport, probably edited, on another victim. You can set up a Google Alert on your name (put it in quotes so that you don't get alarms on just your surname).

Thank you for supporting me. I did create a Google alert as instructed.
