I've just joined Gaydar, a gay dating site in the UK.

I got a message from Mark who asked me to contact him via e-mail to [email protected] because non-members are limited to only a few messages per day.

I sent him my e-mail address and he replied:
How are you today? great I presumed. My name is Mark nice to meet you on the site and I would like to know you better?

This is to confirm your email address and if am talking to the right person kindly get back to me and we take it from there.

Kind Regards,
Thanks.

I responded with some fairly inane details of my day, and he wrote back:
Thanks for your lovely email. it is nice to meet someone like you and would be glad if we can stay in touch this way until we finally meet in person. my name is Edward mark, 33 years old, 5'9 ft tall, weighing average single and looking to meet the right man. I was betrayed by my Ex that is the reason why i joined the site where we met. My Intention is to satisfy my partner sexually. I am looking for something lot more than sex. I want to date and hopefully fall in love someday. I seeks an honest, serious and sincere friendship with someone with the same interest.. My Interests include movies, theatre, music, dining out, travel and sports. I have a great sense of humor, am by nature a nurturing, caring individual, and one who is eager to share quality time with a quality person. I live alone in EdinBurgh but presently in Dubai for work and I will be fly back home in two weeks once my contract end here. and also enjoy quiet times at home in the company of a similar home-body type. I am a non-smoker, non-drinker, and not into any type of drug scene.
I am self employed as Interior decorator. I am a discreet, responsible and intelligent person who is not a game player. I would like to stay in touch this way and see where it goes. it would be nice to share a phone number for conversation prior to meeting. My perfect partner would appreciate what I have to offer and in return offer to me the companionship and romantic fulfillment that we all seek in life. I am an affectionate person who values a sexual relationship with someone I care for and not indiscriminate liaisons. Ultimately, I look forward to a friendship that may lead to a committed relationship. If anything I have shared sounds appealing to you, I would very much like to meet and get to know you. I hope to read back from you.

He attached a photo which is of the same person in his Gaydar profile:

I assume this is all a bit too good to be true . . .

Both messages show signs of being written by someone from West Africa, rather than the UK, and being overseas for work is straight out of many scammer scripts - perfect for him to have some sort of emergency that only your money can solve.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
