Hi everyone,
I really need some advice. I'm freaking out. So, last week i was using a dating app, and this guy messaged me. He claim to be in the army and is serving in kabul, Afghanistan.
He sent me a message on the dating app. He told me he liked my profile and would like to get to know me. He gave me his email address and we've been chatting for the last week. It was going good, he seemed like a nice guy. Then out of the blue he says he has something to ask me and that he feels like we have a connection and feels like he can ask me...
He told me he was on patrol and saved an afghani kid and the kids father was a wealthy man and gave him gold as a thank you. He said he was holding on to it for a year now....he asked me if he could ship 100 kilos of gold to me for safe keeping till he got back into the states.
Guys, I'm really starting to freak out! I've been looking up military scams to make sure. And there are some consistencies with what i have and what i found...i mean I've been leery with the guy since he asked me such a loaded question.
Guys! What do i do?!!! I made the dumb blonde move of giving him my address!!!!
He says his name is James Jackson. he says he was born in japan and that his parents died at a young age and that he lives in California. I'm worried i got my friends and family in trouble as well!!!. What do i do?!!!

It's a definite scam.

The best thing to do is totally block him and don't respond to him any further. Don't accuse him of being a scammer (he'll just lie and carry on trying to scam you) or make excuses for breaking contact - just disappear and leave him wondering what went wrong.

Please can you post the email address that he is using as the other women that he is currently in contact with may be searching for it.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

A very similar thing happened to me in July. I found out through this website he was fake, and I cut off communication 8 weeks ago today. I had given him my home address, phone number and email address, too. He has not contacted me. I believe he is busy with other targets, and he probably hasn't given me another thought. For a long time I hoped he would, and that it would be a misunderstanding and we would continue as we were before I found out he was fake. Thank God, I have moved on and no longer believe anything he said.

Thank you for your assistance. And yes i have the email...

It is: [email protected]

Should i be worried about being stupid and giving him my address? Should i report this to the police? I'm freaking out because he mailed me something.

If he claims to have mailed you the gold or other stuff, it's a lie. He wants to claim that there are customs fees and other nonsense to make you send money. Delete, block and ignore any further attempts by him. When he realizes he's not going to get money from you, he will move on. Stop all communication and do not tell him you know about the scam.

PLEASE DO NOT TELL A SCAMMER HE IS REPORTED HERE!

I would also suggest you hide your list of friends on Facebook and change your security settings so only your friends can see your posts. The scammer can check out your friends and try and contact them.
