Watch out for this guy:
He calls himself Earle-Curtis Meyer / Curtis Meyer and has this facebook profile:
https://www.facebook.com/earlecurtis.meyer.9?fref=ts
(I think that this facebook profile is deleted now – or he has blocked me)
Email used for correspondance: [email protected]
In real life this is NOT the guy on the pictures. He has copied pictures from another profile.
The real guy on the pictures is LTC Colonel David Meyer
Removed FB link (BW)
The fake guy approached me on TINDER first of November 2016, claiming that he was an officer, deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan. Had been divorced for 3 years, had a 12 year old son named Nick. After 1½ months of very sweet and intense chatting and e-mails, he said he was in love with me.
Stupid as I was, I really felt that there was something there. His words infatuated me and made me feel appreciated. He wrote in flawless english and really had a way with words.
He just wanted to see me and be with me, he said.
He asked his superior Officer for a leave, and he allowed him to start up the application, but the leave was denied. Then he told me that he would ask his exwife to help him pay for "SPOUSAL LEAVE". After a couple of days the exwife responded him back saying that she only would pay if the leave was to come and see his son. He then asked me if I would apply for his leave AS A SPOUSE TO BE - that was the first time I became suspicious. I told him that I would not put up any money. He said okay, he would work something out. I felt relieved – maybe there was truths to his words anyway.
Still hoping that he was the real deal, I began looking up “US ARMY” AND “MEYER” and after many hours of search, I found a soldier (COL DAVID MEYER) that looked like him. I looked David Meyer up on Facebook, and there it was!!! Many of the pictures from Curtis Meyers facebook profile were there, including the ones he said that was taken of him recently in Afghanistan. He used David Meyers pictures, pictures of David employed in Iraq and Afghanistan. He used the pictures of Davids son, who by the way is called Nick.
I deleted him from facebook, I wrote him on e-mail not to contact me again, that I was on to him. He wrote back right away, that I was wrong thinking that he would scam me like that.
This was 10 days ago. Yesterday I recieved the following e-mail from him: "i will be home shortly and i will visit you to show you i am flesh and blood" - I have not responded.
I have filled complaints to the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Bureau of Investigation Internet Crime complaint center to stop this guy from using your family Photos. Furthermore I have posted my story with link to CURTIS MEYERS fake facebook profile on a Group called "MILITARY ROMANCE SCAMS" on facebook.
I have also sent a message to David Meyer, informing him that his pictures were stolen and his identity was used - but he has not seen my facebook message.
I never thought this would ever happen to me. I am usually a very reasonable person who has always taken my precautions. I am just heartbroken and I feel ashamed of myself.
I cant stop thinking "what if...." - but I know that he is fake!!
I have a question that I hope someone could answer: I still have all of his emails. The IP addresses comes from 3-4 different locations across the US... How is this possible?? Do I need to save these e-mails? Are the IP addresses usefull in any way? Can anyone track them?
PLEASE BE CAREFUL
Hugs from xxxxxx from Denmark
