He is at it again. I started talking to him on myspace.com, he first wanted me to sign up for a phone. Itold him No. Later he asked me to send him $200.00 because his son needed a basketball kit. I flat out told him no.
Also, he says his hair is bond and his eyes are blue. The real Guy has Brown hair and eyes. He sent me his military Id pass..to me it looks fake. I just want to warn others of this guy.
Thanks. He uses the email address [email protected] and is on myspace as Timothy(Timothy Nein)

Welcome here missshelllea.

Thanks for posting this, but could you also post the emails from this scammer? Preferably with the full headers. If you don't know how to get the headers, just ask.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

[b]Hello. . .I just registered because I do had a suspicion about a guy I met on an online dating site. He has a profile stating he is Sgt Timothy Nein. . .his email address that he uses to speak to me on Yahoo Msngr is [email protected]. I became suspiscious when started chatting with him and he didn't know anything about the Army. . .about BDU's or PCS'ing. Also, he just did not "sound" like an American talking, but, like a foreigner. So, I ran a search on his name. . .and obviously Sgt Timothy Nein is an honest to goodness decorated war hero in the Army. . .and this guy that I have been talking to has no concept of what that is. Anyway, I kept talking to him because I was gathering information. He eventually asked me to email [email protected]. This is the following conversation:

[b]sgtnein45: yes thats why i told you to apply the form for me so that i can come back home
Cookie: What? You never said anything about a form. . .what form do I need to fill out so you can come home?
sgtnein45: yes there is a vocational leave form i really want you to apply for me so that i can come home and start a new life with you
Cookie: Where do i get it?
sgtnein45: in our department overthere in state
sgtnein45: i have their email to contact them
Cookie: what is it?
Cookie: What information will I need to fill out on it?
sgtnein45: as soon as you emailed them they will get you what to fill sweetie
Cookie: But, I only know your name. . .how will I tell them anything else about you?
sgtnein45: email them that you want a leave form for me sgt timothy nein who is in afgh an american military tell them that you are my fiance
sgtnein45: send the email to [email protected]
sgtnein45: [email protected]
Cookie: are you there?
sgtnein45: yes am here sweetie
sgtnein45: am here doll
Cookie: what happens after that? And what will you do once you come here? Will you still want to see me or are you just trying to get me to get you home?
sgtnein45: i want to come and start a new life withyou there
sgtnein45: and after i get my retirement make some provisions for you
sgtnein45: and start a real estate business with my retirement sweety
Cookie: So, what happens once I send the email and fill out the form?
sgtnein45: yeah they will respond back to you
sgtnein45: but they will ask for little bills sweetie
Cookie: what do you mean "little bills"?
sgtnein45: yes
sgtnein45: i mean some fee
Cookie: oh. . .how come? If its military leave, why would they need to be paid?
sgtnein45: yes they need it due to urgent and compulsory leave for me
sgtnein45: still there?
Cookie: yes
Cookie: im just thinking
sgtnein45: why you silent sweetie
sgtnein45: what you thinking about
Cookie: wondering how it is that the only way I can get you home to me is to pay for it.
sgtnein45: honey ..do you trust and belive in me
sgtnein45: no matter how much money they asked for i promise to be there with you and start a new life with you
Cookie: How do you know you want to be wth me though? we've only just met? and what about your daughter? will she like me?
BUZZ!!!
Cookie: I'm here. . .you didn't answer.
sgtnein45: what do you asked sweetie
sgtnein45: i told you i want to be with you and start a new life with you
Cookie: no,. . .about your daughter.
sgtnein45: yes i told her about you

Anyway, after this part, I am removing him from my msssenger. . .but, I really think one should be warned about this.

Thank you.

Oh, and I really take offense that these scammers are using the names and identities of real people who should be left alone and out of all this mess. Military personnel who serve have done enough sacrificing and it makes me upset that these scammers continue to make them part of the nefarious dealings.

Hi TxAngel, no need to feel a fool, these scum are very good at what they do, and they have a lot of practice at it unfortunately.

Thankfully you caught on and found out before it cost you money, emotionally, that is a different story. They are very good at manipulating people, and making anyone believe in them.

Please post as much as you can, the more information posted in here, the easier it is for anyone else to find them.

Take care

John

Hello XXXXXxxx......Hey Beautiful, I just wanted to do something simple to say I love you and to put that smile I love so much back on your face. I want everyone to know how much you mean to me. Ever since you have entered my life, I've been flying on Cloud 9 and I have not come down yet.

I tell you this everyday, but you are the most beautiful person I know, inside and out and I see that more clearly with each passing day. I love everything about you, about us. You do something to me that no other has, you have made me so happy, the happiest I've ever been. You give me the most amazing feelings inside, the feeling of being in love with you.

I still don't know what I did to be so lucky to have you in my life, my dream come true... I am so thankful though. In this short time that we've been together, we have grown so much and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. I love you, sweetie, with all my heart and soul, always and forever!

Love always,

edit to add photo used by the scammer. This is the real Timothy Nein, he is unaware his photos are being used to steal money from victims.

Hi,

I just found this thread while I was looking for a certain William Nein. I'm from Romania and I've met him a few month ago in Bucharest. He was pretending to be a marine seargent, on an leave here in Romania. In his free time he said he was working for a recording company (CCI Solutions) and for the American Embassy in Bucharest. They were all lies. He dissapeared late march, saying he was flying back to his base in US, where he was training for a sniper mission for CIA. Lies, of course. He got money from me and from some friends of mine. He left with my old Dell laptop too.
I'm not sure that he left the country. At least not by plane. He was broke. He might be somewhere in Eastern Europe, although he didn't seem to have an ID or passport on him.
He is 5'3"-5'5", normal built, shaved head, dark skinned, brown eyes. He claimed he was adopted from Romania in the early '90s, he grew up in Pendleton, OR and still has some relatives there. He said his father died recently. This is him in the photo below. Can anyone confirm that we are talking about the same guy?

No, you are not talking about the same person.

The original posters were dealing with an African scammer--someone who was forming online relationships while posing as an American soldier. The scammer would then convince the victims to send money for things like phone and loeave so he could visit them. The scammer behind those scams would have been a young, black African man, who was using stolen photos of a real soldier who he did not actually know, and he never met his victims face to face (he couldn't, because he was not the person in the photos.)

What you are talking about (someone you met face to face) is outside of the scope of what we deal with here. If you have met someone in person and he has stolen property from you, it is a matter for the police. Since we do require evidence of scamming (which will usually be a scammer's scripted emails or profile, I have removed the photo from your post.) I will not remove the name simply because it is a common enough name that it cannot damage an individual's reputation.
