I am in the middle of a scam I believe. Met this guy on tinder saying he worked for UN and we talked for a couple months. Then he wanted to come be with me. Stupid me sent money and they said it was refundable when he got to me. Paid a payment then they said I needed $5k for his benefits to be transferred over to me.

So I’m getting letters saying I must pay by end of week

Please post the full details of the man you met and also the UN department, including their email addresses.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Sorry, but it is a definite scam. The email address is a free one and not something an organisation like the UN would be using.

Also, members of the military and people working for the UN do not need to pay for leave.

The best thing to do now is block the scammer and don't respond any further. Don't challenge or accuse him as he will just deny it and carry on trying to scam you. Just disappear and leave him wondering what went wrong.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

So sorry to hear you were scammed. Please be careful in the future and be especially wary of strangers on the Internet asking you to send money to them

Do not send money (especially Western Union Money Gram) to a stranger on the Internet! It's a scam! No matter the reason! Don't trust them!

DO NOT tell a scammer his information is posted here or you know he is a fraud
