John Rodriguez (Romance Scammer)

Claims to be: US soldier on active duty

In reality is a low-life African romance scammer.

Like many scammers, he uses scripted messages that are likely sent to several women at the same time. He inserts their names and/or adds a few lines to make them seem more personal. Shows the typical range of English--very good when he is copying stolen material, and very bad when he is writing for himself.

If you are in contact with this scammer drop him now.
Block his email address, phone number, and messenger. Block him from your facebook profile.
Do not point him to this page. Showing him the mistakes he made will help him to become a better scammer.
Do not under any circumstances remain in contact with him. He will try to convince you that he is real, that he is innocent, that he loves you. The truth is he will say anything he has to say in order to convince you to stay in contact. He may even tell you he doesn't want money. He can be patient - he may wait weeks to months, until he is certain he has you hooked, and then he WILL try to get money from you again.
If he is angry enough, he may threaten you or try to blackmail you. Again, the only way to handle this is to ignore him.

They will bring up trust many times, because when they start demanding money later, they will use it against their victims, making them feel guilty for not trusting everything the scammer says) Kind Loving and likes to have fun. Likes to go out for a fun every evening and also likes to just cuddle on the couch and discuss how each ones day went or anything that is on your mind. I like opens. It is clear that the scammer wrote much of this, as the English is not consistent with an American.

This scammer takes about 2 months to get to the money request stage. At that point he follows the standard "leave request" format.

Just to reiterate: Leave from the military is earned, like vacation from a regular job. Only the soldier can request the leave, and there are no fees. If you are in contact with a "soldier" and he asks you to request leave for him, then there is no doubt that he is a scammer. In addition, any soldier that asks you to complete a "beneficiary form" is a scammer. The forms themselves were created by scammers and are not representative of the real process, but more importantly, this is direct from the US military guide to benefits:

The following are the six beneficiary election options: spouse; spouse and child; child only; former spouse;
former spouse and child; and insurable interest.

In other words, it is impossible for a soldier to designate a woman he is corresponding with online, as she will not meet any of these criteria.
